New thread time, because we just can't get enough.

No wait, I change my mind again.
It's VR so definitely you the viewer looking within the cockpit from the ranger's POV.

There's definitely a floating head there just to voice command the inhabitant.

As much as I want this film to be good i just can't see it happening. The film looks like it will be as bad FF (2015) and Max Steel.
The trick is to not have much character or just in general drama going on.

It looks like I'm looking at him not looking through his eyes

How would they have captured this? Is it in the headset, or something set up? I am so confused.

It's like when the show the rangers in the head of the megazord in the tv series instead your seeing a ranger in one part of the megazord controlling that part of it while the others are in separate cockpits controlling the other parts

I understand that. I am simply curious how they captured the footage. Is it off a tv? Sorry for not being clear.

Floating head is Zordon with a Power Ranger Helmet on. That means were not going to see Bryan Cranston face :csad: :o

It's ok I misunderstood what you were asking. I believe it's the camera footage. I feel like we will something similar in the movie but split screen with each ranger inside of it in the compartments.

I can't even tell what's where in that cockpit. Where's the controls, HUD? Screen? Anything???

This joke would've been relevant if we haven't already seen his mug OR
it could actually be Zordon, since the rumor is he was the original red ranger. Whatever color the helmet is supposed to be represents the inhabitant's cockpit and the helmet is just there for Zordon to voice through.
However, more like the helmet changes color to represent whoever is talking at the moment
sort of like in a youtube live conference in which the picture lights up.

Screen's in the center TeeKay. That one in particular is looking inside the cave at the Pterodactyl Zord.

You can't see it because we are opposite it the blue ranger is looking toward us and the controls are in front of him we could see it we had his pov

It's out the cockpit (broken into 3 windows) , with the triceratops horns jutting out on either side (a. check the toy posted above, see the cockpit with the two horns on either side)

First image he is facing the Pterodactyl Zord (b. check the VR image above it's the same Pterodactyl Zord almost the exact same angle)
The "floating" head generated by the crystal he may be talking to either Kimberly or Jason, or it shows he's the one talking.

Second image is he's blowing some opening in a canyon or cave, all the flat bright white on either side of the cockpit are the triceratops horns picking up all the light from the explosion ahead.

So the designs look awful as toys and in VR. Outside of the T-Rex, I am digging that but I can also see the obvious Transformers reference in it, so that is probably why they got it looking decent.

I can't help but admit that some of this stuff does look a bit overdesigned. I'll give it a fair shake with some actual footage, but man, sometimes less is more.

No, you were looking at a billow of smoke and insisting that there wasn't a fire.

Ok, so I was wrong. Said billow of smoke was from a franchise with a LOT more media attention on said problems, and repeated public meltdowns from the director, cast and crew. Are we really looking at that scenario here?

The quote you have here is was from around the time of fans thinking the movie wasn't being made, wasn't going to come out, etc. I don't know exactly where that falls in relation to the "PR nightmare" thing, so I can't speak to how accurate that is. Obviously it turned out to be one. Again, congratulations on being right?

Sounds eerily similar to this, eh?

Kind of.

Similar things are said sometimes.

One of those things is like, a page and a half about different concepts, and one of them is me saying "I think this approach was probably intentional". You've drawn a comparison between portions of larger arguments.

Okay. So...

Are you going to tell me the approach to the first Power Rangers trailer was not intentional? Are we going to pretend that they haven't been playing up the more grounded nature of this franchise adaption since day one?

Yes, that approach would be somewhat similar to the basic idea behind F4.

So?

What point are you trying to make exactly?

Can't wait to hear how "uncivil and insulting" I was.

You're sarcastic. You don't say overtly rude things like "You seem incapable of understanding..." to start making a point.

My tolerance for stuff like that is pretty low these days. Maybe I overreacted. I will look at Darth's post again.

I feel with all this VR marketing, that the VR Troopers are going to sue the power rangers for stealing their gimmick

And just in case anyone didn't get a chance to read my findings from a guy on CBM.com that saw the film in an early screening, here's a recap:

- The tone of the movie is similar to Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man in that its "campy" like the show but with serious and tense moments

- He says the film is "alright"
because he likes the mythology expansions used in the movie involving the Morphing Grid, Zords, Rita, Zordon and the like but feels the film is procedural in nature due to the standar origin story formula where the first two acts are used as setup and the third act is where the action largely goes down. He simply preferred that the action based plot kicked off sooner. However he said based on the wrap report, more action may have been integrated into the 2nd act since then.

- The Zords come out from Underwater, due to the Command Center being located there, when called upon

- The design of the Megazord is similar to the toy design but with metallic blue in place of the grey.

- The cockpit of the Zord operates in a way similar to jungle fury where the Zord is "self aware". It has a brain and a heart and in his opinion symbolizes the main theme of the film about the 5 teens learning to work together and bond for a greater cause.

- Due to the central theme, one of Rita's agendas is to cause a riff that would stop them from forming together as a team. I would presume that's why she decides to pick on Trini though the commenter didn't say anything on this matter.

- When asked about how it holds up to other Nostalgia based adaptations like Transfomers and TMNT he said that generally it was on the level of those but had elements that were better (The mythology expansions) and elements that were worse (Goldar).

- He also mention that there is a dynamic in the film between Zordon and Jason in regards to him being a good leader.

- He of course also said The Wrap report is generally accurate about the film
