Rose McIver from iZombie gives advice to the movie cast

IGN: They are making this new Power Rangers movie, which is getting a lot of attention. Do you have any advice to these new Power Rangers, having been a Ranger yourself?

McIver: Oh my goodness, that was probably one of the funnest eight months stints of my life. We just laughed our heads off; we had so much fun. I think, make sure you enjoy it. Don’t take yourselves too seriously. You’re fighting monsters in rubber suits. But it’s a blast! It’s so cool and it's so cool to be a part of something that as a child my peers watched and I look now and there are children watching it still. It sort of transcends one particular generation and that’s so fun to be part of, so enjoy every minute.

Well I don't really see the rubber suit monster thing happening but the other advice is sound.

I never finished RPM (One day I will),so I had no idea that she was on that season. This makes me watch to finally get to it.

I would love to see what a high budget practical city set with people dressed as giant robots and monsters could look like.

Watch any Godzilla film done from the 90's onward. That's about as good as that is gonna get and... It still looks very much on the cheesy side.

Oh yeh? Ill check it out. Any recommendations? Anything can be improved upon :D

Godzilla: Final Wars would probably it, since that was the highest budget Godzilla film of that era. The Attack on Titan films will also give you a look at a more hybrid approach, which I believe is being used in the upcoming 2016 Godzilla film.

I had a look at some of the Godzilla battles and while they indeed do still look kinda cheesy I dont think its the only way it can be done. Godzilla and his pals look far bigger than any of the buildings which I think doesnt work well. If you could blend practical minature city sets with decent cgi it would great.

I think one problem is that Godzilla and co move in real time. They need to be slower to give us a sense of size.

Suitmation doesn't tend to be real time, though. What is on screen is slowed down from what they filmed.

You may want to wait to see how the new Godzilla film does. It is supposed to be using some of the same technology as the Attack on Titan films.

Oh ok well maybe its not slow enough! hah. Its just when you see little details of their suits flopping around at what looks to be almost normal speed, but you seem to know what you are talking about so ill take your word.

Where have you read about Godzilla using the same tech? im interested in reading about it.

Edit* Dont worry, I figured I could find it my self. Really interesting stuff. Thanks for putting me onto it Sithborg

I own all the Godzilla films. If you're looking for the best looking ones, my picks are "Godzilla: Tokyo SOS" (2003) and "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack" (2001) as being the best, special FX-wise.

Cool thanks! I will check them out. I guess what I am looking for is the best Suitmation work.

Those are definitely it then, plus they're some of the best quality films in the franchise period, so you're in for a treat! :)

I really don't see Lionsgate using suitmation for this film. And how's that manip coming along, Alien? I'm curious.

Who's Rose McIver?
She stars in iZombie. She was one of the Power Rangers on RPM, which was the last Disney season and the last season before Saban re-acquired the property and relaunched it with Samurai.

Oh I have been quite busy just recently with drinking and band stuff and other ideas but I will probably get onto it tonight.

Busy with drinking is important though, we get it. Haha

Haha I also should have added watching Jessica Jones. Holy **** its good!

Not impressed. But if everyone involved is efficient and this budget doesn't make them cut corners, I could see it working out. They need amazing suits, Zords and good looking CGI. If they can make that work with that budget, I think we'll be fine.

I knew that January release date had to mean something. It's going to be very difficult to pull off a team Superhero film with that kind of budget. It's not 2000 anymore so the comparison to X-Men does not make much sense.
