Since Christmas is on its way well within the next few weeks it begs the question of what your 5 favorite all time Christmas movies are

List them from #5 to #1

1 It's a Wonderful Life
2 The Snowman - animated Raymond Briggs classic
3 Scrooge (1970 version with Albert Finney)
4 Santa Claus the Movie
5 Arthur Christmas

In some way, these all define Christmas for me as a season and also me as an individual in the emotive subtext they hold with me and for me.

I see I've done this the wrong way round to what was asked....

My 5 all time Christmas movies are listed as follows:

5- Elf (2003)- Will Ferrell classic...Buddy The Elf his character just resonates with me but also the message the movie portrays or conveys here about Christmas it really just gets to me on an emotional level

4- The Santa Clause (1994)- Tim Allen as Santa Claus...big part of my childhood this film was but also the story behind it too is what makes this film an all time Christmas classic

3- A Christmas Story (1983)- One of the best Christmas films of all time in the spirit of Christmas bar none...not to mention the hilarity and the comedy that ensues...I mean how could this movie not be on your list?

2- Die Hard (1988)- Bruce Willis as John McClane on Christmas taking on terrorists by himself in a skyscraper...best Christmas action movie bar none not to mention the famous one-liners here in the first Die Hard...that is what makes a true Christmas classic

1- It's a Wonderful Life (1946)- This film strikes a cord with me like nothing else because the message it portrays/conveys here along with the emotive subtext too...I mean it has to be the greatest Christmas film of all time bar none

3. Bad Santa

Surprisingly enough, I didn't watch that many Christmas movies.

Batman Returns (1992) definitely is in my top 10 but also another Christmas classic Lethal Weapon (1987) has to be there too

I was really torn as far as leaving National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) off of my list but for sure it is like #6 on my top 10 for sure and Home Alone (1990) definitely is like #7 and Home Alone 2 (1992) is like #8 on my list

Die Hard like you is also #2 on my list of Christmas films...I was torn about Die Hard 2 especially because Die Hard 2 is also a Christmas film and it is John McClane on Christmas Eve but in an airport taking on mercenaries

Hahahaha again with the Die Hard being a Christmas movie... I guess the world has gone mad. Die Hard is a Christmas movie, Get Out is a comedy...

Die Hard is a film set at the Christmas season, it isn't a Christmas film in that it's narrative is not driven by the Christmas spirit or time of goodwilll etc.

Except for John McClain trying to reconcile with his family at the Christmas party when the robbery happened. Hallmark channel 24/7 is running two months worth of TV movies with the same basic plot point of guy gets back together with long lost love during the season

The family reconciliation 'factor' though is not the MVP of the film, the terrorist attack is.

I know right...Die Hard is like the ultimate Christmas classic and yeah even though it is an action shoot em up movie it is a Christmas movie too

Like how could you not love this movie? Seeing John McClane take on terrorists in a skyscraper especially on Christmas Eve and trying to reunite with his wife and his children just in time for Xmas

Like it is the one Christmas movie that I just have to watch every year to get me in the Christmas spirit

It is one of Murray's best performances in my view, covers the gambit of the originally perceived arc whilst being 'his' film, and his Richard Burton impression is one of the best I've ever heard.
