Denzel Washington To Star In Warner Bros. Cop Thriller ‘Little Things’

The Oscar-winning actor will step into the role of Deke, a burned out Kern County sheriff who teams with LA County Sheriff’s Department detective, Baxter, to reel in a wily serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” (hence the title of the movie) proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. All the while, Deke wrestles with a dark secret from his past. Hancock, who directed The Blindside and Highway Men, is circling the directing chair.

Sounds like Training Day but maybe with a twist.

Quite a cast.

This was interesting. It leaves you wanting more...but that isn't the point of the film. I enjoyed it.

I have seen people comparing this to Jack Nicholson 2001 movie The Pledge

The Pledge was a lot better though. That's a little gem I wished more people checked out.

I didn't think this movie was boring or bad like a lot are saying. It was okay. It held my attention enough. It's too bad that trailer pretty much gave the ending away.

I don't think it was bad or boring either. The acting is great all around and the atmosphere is just dense. I will say it would've benefited from more breathing room and a less iffy ending.

Me, five minutes in: Rami seems creepy, I bet he’s the killer.

Me, by the end:
Okay, so he wasn’t THAT killer, but I still get half a point. :o

Ngl, I was thinking that when I watched the trailer, he's one of those people who just naturally looks a little creepy no matter what kind of role he's playing.

Hence his nonstop typecasting

I got major creepy vibes from both Denzel and Malek which I don't think was supposed to be intentional, but I'm honestly still not sure either. I actually found them to be creepier than Leto at times though which was weird, but they could have done something interesting with it IMO, but they never did.

Well I think every character is morally questionable, so.....maybe it was intentional?

Yeah same. At the end, I thought
Malek would turn out to be the killer and that would be the big twist. Like when Malek was digging the holes, he already knew he wouldn't find anything... and Leto figured it all out but he was playing along. I really thought it had to be that, just because having Leto watch him dig seemed so dumb, and Malek was acting all weird

This movie is kind of like those mediocre Se7en "ripoffs" they made in the 90's

Movie was boring and if it didn’t have this cast, it would be a straight to tv film. Malek proved that his only good performance in his career thus far is Mr. Robot.

Like I said in the HBO Max thread. This had great trailers, but this was bad. It was boring most of the movie and the ending was awful. What a waste of talent all around.

What the **** was that? It started like it might be one of those serviceable 90's thrillers that made for a good rental and it just slowly grinds to a halt. It almost imperceptibly becomes powerfully boring and aimless.

And Jared Leto sucked. He was once a skilled actor, but clout and acclaim and A-list status has allowed him to vanish completely up his own ass. He's hopelessly mannered.

My one positive take away: the unabashedly piano heavy score. Definitely had its own identity.

I didn't mind it, it clearly wasn't at the level that Fincher writes/directs these films...

And, the twist near the end would have been worth it if that character got to get obsessive and degrade as a police officer ala Brad Pitt in Se7en. But, nothing like that happens to him... so when it happens its less of a tragic point in the script, and more like an idiotic accident. Leto was ok, being a creepy dude.

I also like how the didn't outright make him the murder, but they should have also done more with it. Him being just a crime fan ******* who wanted to mess with the cops, once they "were onto him" is a neat idea.

But, like most things in this film... just neat ideas.

This movie was weird, bro.
And tried to be more more clever than it needed to be
