Ever since I've been on my own I haven't had cable TV, well except one channel (FX), and the crazy thing is it doesn't really bother me.

Sure there are some shows I'd like to watch, Walking Dead being on of them, but other than that most of the shows on the channels are old shows that they rerun everyday on regular TV. And with Hulu, it almost makes having cable useless.

Not to mention the fact that I work all the time and don't have a chance to really watch TV much, plus it's one less bill to deal with.

So is there anyone here besides me that doesn't have cable TV, or DirecTV or Dish Network etc.? And if so have you gone along just fine without it?

I'm not watching TV much. When I watch I watch mostly stuff on Discovery channel or National Geographic channel. Series and movies I prefer watching on DVD. It's so annoying with all these commercials ruining them on tv.

I've got regular old broadcast tv and I dont mind, any show on cable I want to watch I can usually find on the internet, or I just buy the DVD when it comes out

I have cable, but I honestly don't watch it all that much.

I feel sorry for peeps with no cable. Then again with hulu or the channel's site, you can watch full shows. I know I would need cable with dvr when I ever move out. The shows I currently watch on NBC and ABC? Once canned, bye. Like Fox. Tired of the big 4 canning shows I like, USA network is better than abc, fox, NBC, CBS. The CW thinking it's a network is soooooo cuuuuute.

I know once abc cans general hospital and cougar town...game over. They canned Invasion, daybreak, the gates. 3 strikes for them. Fox can just shove off for canning brimstone back in 98. You...you doo doo heads. NBC is just a trainwreck. CBS is for old people.

I'm kinda the reverse. I didn't have cable until I was 19-20. Most of the cartoons that people watched in the early 90s though were on the major networks/antenna/whatever it's called in your local area so I didn't miss a whole lot.

I've still got cable now, mostly for the sports/news channels that you don't get without cable here. It's true that I could probably watch everything I wanted to on the internet, but for some reason I don't like watching TV shows on the laptop.

Yeah, thanks to the Internet, you don't really need cable. However, you do lose the comfort of laying back on your recliner and watching something on a bigger screen. I mean, sure, Netflix Streaming is fantastic, but it's also very limited. If you wanna keep up with a weekly TV series then you're gonna have to stick with your computer screen.

A year and a half without cable and still going strong. Didn't have any type of tv for six months then got the digital converter box. Have to adjust the antenna differently (very aggravating) for each channel, only 6 channels.. I was still on dial-up internet until about 4 months ago. I dont always have a good wireless connection, but most of the time it works. So there are ways online to watch cable shows if I really want to.

I have cable, but I really don't watch it. I prefer to watch my shows on DVD or via internet.

I didn't have cable in my house until I was 17 years old. I'm 33 now and haven't been without cable or now DirecTV since then.

I'm living with limited Direct TV access. Because of the economy I had to get the cheaper package.I get crappier channels now. I still get to watch iCarly and Avengers : Earth's Mightiest Heroes though. So now I can't watch wrestling , Burn Notice , Psych , Clone Wars and a whole bunch of other s*** I used to watch. I do get more sleep because of it.

I dont have a tv in my college dorms but having the net is just as good really

I have cable in my dorm and at home but I rarely ever watch anything on cable. I only really watch snippets at home because my mom has it on all the time. I haven't touched the tv in my dorm all semester and neither has my roommate. I grew up without cable and I'm fine without it. There's rarely anything good on anyway, and any shows I do like I can watch it on the computer. At least there I'm not bombarded with ads all the time. When I move out I won't bother to buy cable. I don't even know if I'll bother to get a tv. Maybe to play games.

I'd never go without cable, mainly for AMC, F/X and Comedy Central. AMC and F/X easily have the best shows on TV and they usually don't hit the internet until a couple weeks after they premiere or not at all.

I dig cable, but I really only watch the game. Football, hockey, whatever..I haven't kept up with a new, hip show in years.

Most of my "TV watching" is on DVD.

I only need a telescope and a clear night to view what's going on in the apartments next door.

I've disconnected my cable a long time ago. Even my internet for a while. I kind of like going without it.

I can finally watch BSG thanks to Netflix streaming!

What's even more funny is that most of the movies they're starting to show on some of the channels (like F/X) are all movies that I already own on DVD.

Once I stopped paying for cable it changed my routine. I spend more time watching movies or things online. If there is something I desperately want to see I buy the box set on dvd. There are some things that look fun like BSG , Big Bang theory , and Walking dead but it seems like there is too little time to catch up on everything.

I haven't watched any kind of television for maybe a year and a half now and man do I miss it.
