A 9ft Lizard vs a skinny Spider-Man will be far more exciting to see onscreen than a man-sized Lizard vs a skinny Spider-Man.
The MTV Lizard design... or almost every single one of his designs in the comics doesn't make sense for a creature who's a mix of a man and a reptile.
The movie has nailed the look for this, imo.
Werewolves don't have human heads. When I think of The Lizard I think of a WereLizard if such a thing exists. This looks more like a scifi Lizard race that you would see on Doctor Who or Star Trek...IMO
But...that is basically what Ditko drew but I was never a fan of that model and of course drawing back then for comics wasn't the best when they had to churn out so much.
I find it funny that most people use this photo as a reference for how the Lizard should look:

Yet in still they complain about him being too large, too muscular, and too tall at 9ft.
HE'S ALL OF THOSE IN THIS PICTURE!
Also, I've been telling people that the Lizard in TASM would look like The Lizard does in that picture, just with a humanoid face. Bit does anyone believe me?
To quote John Witherspoon: Nooooooooooooo!

.....while I haven't read all of this thread, your post is the first I've seen post this image as an example of what they want.I find it funny that most people use this photo as a reference for how the Lizard should look:

I'm going with a live-action Lizard head, that is also articulate, was too goofy for them. I think the still human resembling face, sells the fact better, that you're still dealing with an intelligent being. I'm all for the Lizard head, once he's gone completely over the edge.
I personally think Lizard should have clothes because it is a lot more terrifying. It shows that stark contrast between Connors human form and this monstrous beast he has become. Psychologically, it helps keeps connors in the audience's mind. Aesthetically, it adds to his horrific look. Here we have a scientist trying to help humanity with his research only to have things go completely awry. There is something really terrifying yet tragic about that and it really hits you in the face when you see this beast running in Connor's tattered lab coat with little remnants of what was once Dr.Connors. Also a naked monster is very generic because most movie monsters are...well...mindless. The thing that makes Lizard a great villain is that he isn't. Somewhere in there is still the genius mind of Dr.Connors, having a that tattered lab coat automatically distinguishes him from being just another movie monster.
Yeah, I don't want a "raptor headed" Lizard either, or anything too much like a dinosaur. I just wanted a lizard snouted version like this:

With or without the labcoat, that could have worked for me.

With a raptor snout, how would they animate him speaking? Nolan can let Bane wear his mask because we all know he has a human mouth under it.That's not really true for all CBMs, lol. WB is letting Nolan keep the "mask" on Bane.
That's no true reason at all to say why Lizard has a more humanoid face.

But I forgot that Hollywood movie villains have to showcase the faces of their actors as much as possible for some kind of ego reason I guess. I believe this is the real reason we're getting a humanoid-faced Lizard. The actor's face has to remain a recognizable part of the character - thus we get Spidey, Green Goblin and Venom unmasking as much as possible, and now the Lizard not looking lizardlike enough.
