Lonely Chinese Man Does the Unthinkable

A desperately lonely man who was unable to find a girlfriend decided he had no more use for his penis — and proceeded to cut it off.

Yang Hu, 26, from the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, had been battling depression over his inability to find love when he made the decision to slice off his manhood this past Sunday night after work.

Friends of Yang said the long hours he had been putting in at a local clothing factory convinced the man he would never find the time to meet a woman.

Hoping to curb his desire for a partner and believing his penis to be useless, Yang made the fateful truncation, only to quickly regret it.

He reportedly grabbed his bicycle and rode to a nearby hospital, but soon realized he had left his missing member at home.

He cycled back to retrieve it, but by the time he returned to the hospital it was too late.

Yang's friends blamed the hospital for literally adding insult to injury by failing to send an ambulance to collect Yang's personal belongings in lieu of telling him to go ride a bike.

I don't think 26 is too young to be giving up. Life is hard as is...dating and failing at it and being lonely/depressed makes it harder. However, even I know it just depends on how you look at it.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with you. It IS too young to give up because he simply hasn't really lived at all at 26. I might understand more if he were 36, or 46 even, but at 26 he still has his whole life ahead of him. It's not like he was too old.

To me it's like someone who hasn't had anything to eat since breakfast complaining to someone in Ethiopia that he's starving. Like I said, he needs to meet more people who are older and haven't found love to give him a reality check.

On a more serious note he should probably become a monk. Given what he's done to himself and that he's decided he's never going to find love, he should devote himself to something and being a monk seems ideal.

China's one child policy and the fact sons are favourable to daughters in China means that he is far from alone in being unable to find a date in China.

The male to female ratio was a 118 males to 100 females in 2010 with it being 130 males in some provinces and its only getting worst.

If your a Chinese guy you better start looking overseas for a wife because it is going to get real hard for you to score a wife or girlfriend.

I'm not talking about someone who has ended up in jail or gone through various drug problems etc, but just the normal melodrama that teenagers go through where things are blown out of proportion.

It's not like he was aged out of finding any women or he couldn't change his life or work situation at 26.

I think the guy is mentally ill, that's the key thing, it's not really about loneliness or whatnot.

"Normal" depressed people think about killing themselves, but to cut off a major body part, much less THAT one, is seriously messed up.
