Looks like HD-DVD is Done

I haven't seen it ANYWHERE else.

I've had customers come back to the store and try to return their blu-ray movies because the picture looks just like a DVD instead of significantly better. And... well, that says something.

Really, to notice any difference, you have to be one of those dukeebags who spends hours in the day just trying to get the colors perfect on his set.

"Yeah, that looks good, a little bit more contrast, wait too much contrast, more brightness, yeah that's perfect, wait, I didn't notice that glare coming from the window, I gotta set the colors again...."

I've actually noticed better color on HD-DVD movies.

Now they'll probably release Batman Begins on HD-DVD, since it was cancelled for the format.

There is no fog on the DVD version, and the Blu-Ray does not make it look like a window where the characters are right there. The quality is better, yeah, but not that much so.
Bull buddy. It's all in the optics and the transition to discs. When the video is captured in high-quality it stays high quality. The video is soooo huge that when it is transfered to a digital platform (generally a super-computer first) that platform is made specifically for that kind of media because it's so freaking huge. Now a DVD can only hold 4.5 gb of storage so the video has to be dumbed down like mad in order to not only fit on the disc but also leave room for the bonus features. Now when the size is brought down, so is the quality. It's simple. Now use a disc with more layers and you have more room for better quality. Also the thing with blu-ray is that the scratch protection is a lot thinner so you get much more PRECISE reading. (the thicker scratch protection is what gives it a sort of feel where a thin veil is over the camera) Now compare the two in a split screen reader and you can see the difference. If you don't believe me run over to best buy and take a look. Oh and might I ad you need an HD-TV to get the feel of the maximum quality.

I'm tired of seeing those Blu-Ray and HD-DVD demos where they compare it to DVD and are all like "Notice the difference!!!!"

I can't see **** yo!
For real, I don't need to count the stitches on Spider-Man's costume.

I've seen those demos literally, hundreds of times. Any difference in the quality is so small, it's not even worth the price tag for it. If it makes you feel better about yourself, continue with the lie. But the difference between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD versus DVD is not astronomical.

Exactly.

Genius! Asteroid-Man, Genius! A crappy quality Youtube video is the perfect way to sell people to Blu-Ray!

Some movies are spectacular in HD.

Transformers is beautiful.

Simpsons Movie looks extremely crisp in Blu-Ray.

Spider-Man 3 looks amazing, especially the rise of Sandman.

Casino Royale in Blu-Ray =

If you've seen hd and blu-ray and still prefer regular dvd over them, then that says something for mediocrity for the masses and whatnot. I'll spend the money for my home entertainment...and I'll take the time to be a "dukeebag" and calibrate it to what I want. My Optoma HD80 projector is just screaming for some 1080p Blu-ray action...something that regular dvd just can't deliver.

Oh, I'm really going to buy a PS3 soes I can get blu-ray because Assteroid Man showed a ****ing commercial

really...i agree with all those people who say bah to blu ray and HD DVD...you can see things slightly clearer and you can notice that blonde in the background isn;t as good looking as you origonaly thought...big deal, it's a tiny jump...it's noting like video to dvd thus why i don;t give a tarts furry cup...

The point wasn't to say "buy a PS3!" the point was to show you how much detail and how great quality can be included in the Blu-Ray discs!

HD has a 6x better picture than regular dvd...yes it is noticeable. 1080p is a brilliant picture and the sound is unbelievably better than regular dvd and it's even comparable to the jump from vhs to dvd. I own a PS3 and HD-DVD drive for my 360 so I really don't care which format wins and people would be dumb to sell their hddvd movies because their player will still work.

It's a damn commercial, not "Mr. Information's 30 second fact snippet"

The difference is rather noticeable, especially the more you watch HD. When I have to pop in a DVD I tell more and more how blah it looks.
