I'm I the only one that expects a later extended dvd version of ROTK in which we see the scenes of what happen to gimly legolas and the others after the ring was destroyd? those scenes were filmed but never shown.
And what about a treat to the fans that wanted aragorn fight sauron what of an alternate version of this fight they have the footage they need to add some stuff here and there but it would be great to see aragorn and sauron go at it. What do you guys think?

They already announced the Ultimate Editions or whatever the hell they're calling them that'll have all the footage shot for all 3 films that didn't make the T-cut or the E-cut, I don't recall the release date though.

Ummm, so not only were the regular versions not long enough, but neither were the extended versions?? And then there is also the extended cuts of King Kong coming out? Is Jackson trying to out-Lucas Lucas?

Director's Cuts were enough.
Why the hell are they releasing Ultimate editions?

I already bought TT and ROTK Extended Editions, so I am not wasting more money for another extended.

Because studios love to milk things for everything they're worth and then some.

I might years later when they finally drop the price down. They did it with the EE box set for 17.00 each

The thing is that the ones that are coming in this or next month are just the regular edition with the extended in one disc and the second disc just has a documentary that's like 84 min long, buts that's not what I was talking about in the original post.I was talking about the ultimate editions which PJ mentioned once but he we haven't recieved more details on that.

I hadn't heard that they were going to make any more entended or ultimate editions, but if they ever do, I'd certainly like to see them. I'm glad they nixed that Sauron/Aragorn fight in the film, but I still would like to see it, just to see if it would have worked.

It's called business. You produce products people will pay money for.

;)

Cant wait for them. I hope they do one for FOTR and TTT too.

Well PJ just wanted to be truthful to Tolkien and he though that following more on frodo's struggle with the ring will make for a more compelling climax. Because afterall it was frodo's story. However I think he also knew that if he putted the aragon sauron fight in it, it would steal the spotlight of frodo and sam,so he cut it out. I still think that the fight could have been in the movie and at the same time focus on frodo, afterall it was just two stories going on, and before that The fellowship was divided in three or four groups. Plus aragorn would still be making the sacrifice for frodo, Jackson could have found a way to just make sauron the meaning of aragorn's sacrifice for frodo as in demonstrating that aragorn would comfront his worst fear (in sauron) in order to buy frodo the time he needed to destroy the ring.

I agree with you... not to such a heated extent but I do agree. Jackson put so much time and effort into what he did with the LOTR trilogy. Transitioning from book to film is very difficult and Jackson not only got a lot of the big stuff he got a lot of the little stuff too.

Smith... while I like his movies shouldnt be talking. Lucas didnt take time to make sure things that happened in the prequels matched up with things said in the original trilogy.

Wild stab in the dark here. Maybe Smith was just poking fun at LOTR? Maybe it should have been taken as the humor it was intended. I love the LOTR and I found the humor in that scene.

It's always funny til it's about something you like?

Somebody (in this thread) is angry.

Maybe he should make a poll about it. LOL

Bring on the 10 hr version!

That would be me, *delets all those that quoted thealiasman2000*

I didn't think there was anything particularly wrong with what Alias said and I don't think anyone of us antagonized him malicously.

It's called ripping us the hell off. I'm a big fan of LOTR, but i'm pissed that they supposedly releasing these new versions so soon after the Extended Versions came out. But I suppose they magically happened to find this extra footage and just HAD to share it with us :o

What!? More DVD's? Now I'm gonna have to buy those too.
