I guess from an SFX standpoint, I more or less most of the time have to go with the "that's the best they could do" viewpoint. But movies as a whole, I try to judge them on their own terms. I really don't know if I answered your question or not, lol.

I hope Spielberg goes back to his blockbuster roots. I'm sure things like Lincoln and War Horse were good, but I love his action/blockbuster stuff.

Well, in my opinion Moonraker is definitely a lot better than The Man With The Golden Gun. It has its share of cheese, but a better story.
