Lounge of Justice - Part 90

He literally picks up a practically grown man with one arm and strangles him in the original film and then walks off falling out of a window after getting shot lol. Not to mention plucking Judith’s tombstone from the ground and propping it up in Annie’s bed.

He has always shown traits beyond normal human ability.

That is more believable than anything that happens in this film. Seriously it is ludicrouss. Not even good ludicrous like "how drunk were you when you wrote this" ludicrous. They tried to make him seem like he is some super badass in the scene with the firefighters to the point where they do the cliche "rev the chainsaw" shot and he just wipes them all aside like he is some sort of seriel killer Jedi. (that is a bit of an exagerration) All this while being in his 60s btw. Freddy Krueger couldn't pull off the crap Myers did and he is a demon that lives in your dreams ;) The scene with the mob he might as well be Wolverine...

It is one thing to show strength...it is another to be the slasher film version of Neo in the Matrix.

Red Letter Media friggin nails why the movie is trash...

And I forgot...since they wiped out all of the continuity Michael only really killed 3 people 40 years ago (plus his sister before that I guess) and the whole town is gonna murder him for it. (EVIL DIES TONIGHT!!1!!1!11!!!!) They even mock that in the 2018 film cause it honestly is not that big of a deal in the modern world. More people were murdered like 5 miles from me 2 days ago. No mobs are going to go out and beat the people with baseball bats and kill them because they are some sort of a boogeyman or avatar of evil. It's like they forgot everything that happened in the last film and just said "How can we make Michael Myers scary now that none of his previous films exist and he now looks like a bad cosplay of Mick Fleetwood without the mask"? :o:o:wow::funny::slash:

I am all for mindless fun (Halloween 4-6 are mindless stupidity) but it at least needs to attempt to make some sense.

People have formed mobs over having to wear a mask. I get not liking this movie, but some of the hyperbole and just outright disconnection from current events just makes the critiques funny to me.

never seen Halloween movies so i've always thought of Michael Myers as some kind of supernatural boogieman like Jason lol

There was a supernatural component added to later films. But the first movie, I wouldn't say supernatural, but his strength and resilience is beyond normal human capacity. Plus this mf just like knows how to drive. Fresh out the hospital after 15 years...just whippin it.

Outside of RLM (well after the viewing) I havent read any of it, it is all just observations on my own. As someone who loves Halloween films I have little interest in what critics have to say about them and dont want anyone's opinions to cloud what I am seeing.

It isn't the forming of a mob it is the "Evil Dies Tonight" mantra throughout the film. If this was Halloween 7 with the old continuity that would make total sense. That was 20 years of Myers killing people and coming back from the "dead". In this case it was one night of killing (now obviously killing is bad but we are talking about in a context of a film not real life) and he had been locked up since that night. Laurie and Tommy and the other kids having PTSD makes sense (the cop too although that story made me roll my eyes as well...it was like a bad episode of Law and Order) but the entire town many of whom weren't even alive back then? It just doesn't work if you even half pay attention to the story. Not to mention they already used the mob mentality storyline in a previous film anyways and it barely worked then...

Having had a day to think about it I think the real issue is (and RLM hit on it) was that this film just feels like a crib sheet of other films that they discarded. Laurie in the hospital, the mob, Michael needing to go home, Tommy needing to face down his fears...all that stuff has already happened for those of us that have watched all the films. Halloween 2018, while not exactly having the most original script ever, really did a great job of feeling fresh, of feeling like "what if you distilled out all the BS and just had the fallout of Myers on Laurie Strode?". Nothing supernatural, no weird family lines and adoptions just he killed her friends, she survived and has had to live with it ever since. Even though this was like the 4th continuity or whatever it really worked. Then it seems like they decided it would be a trilogy (they changed the ending because of that from what I read) they had a place where it is likely to end up
Laurie has to die along with Michael to end the "curse" is my guess which...meh
the problem is they had no way to get there from where the 2018 film ends. So they make this filler film which is disjointed, uneven and really no purpose except to show that Michael Myers fights like he is in a Chris Nolan film and the director can show really weird ways for people to die. Oh and they had to filter out almost some of the characters from previous films for various reasons so we can get to wear they feel the story needs to end. It wasn't scary, it wasn't poignant (which is what they were going for with all the stupid subtexts and messages) it was just blah and cliche. They turned it the type of third rate rip off of a slasher film that developed because of Halloween.

What makes Halloween great (even the bad films) is that Michael Myers isn't Jason or Freddy...he is just the Shape. He walks, he kills, he stands and seemingly disappears into thin air. the lack of action and him scaring people makes it suspenseful and scary. He is everywhere and he is nowhere. Yeah he has more strength than most people but he isn't some God. He was always a human who just was too full of hate/evil to allow himself to die. He always had to get up and keep going. In the first film no one knew why which is why it was pretty friggin scary. As they added backstory it got less scary and a bit ridiculous but at least it was consistent. This film it seems the writer/director didn't think that would fly so they made him whatever the heck he is in this.

That is just my opinion though...I am glad others enjoyed it. I wish I had cause I really really wanted to!

Yeah that always made me laugh. That was John Carpenter just saying "we need a way to get him there...have him drive a weird station wagon!". :funny:

@dhandler01 as you can guess I have a different opinion. But I do get where you're coming from and can respect your stance on it all. A lot of things you call out just register differently for me is all. But yeah, I do get you.

Fully vaxxed.

Miss Rona got me.

Mild chills for now and a bit light headed, but that could be cause I'm drinkin that hibiki. Also, she punches way harder than miss flu that's for sure.

get well soon @Black Narcissus !
i'm still trying to finish up the bottles of toki i got almost 2 years ago. lol

i got a friend who refused to get vaxxed and has now caught covid.
and it sounds absolutely horrible. she's saying the pain is worse than when she had labor contractions.

she took all other precautions except the vaccine itself.

everyone is at risk of getting infected - even with the vax, you can still get it.
but vaccines can provide an extra layer of protection and have shown to be mostly safe and effective.

i been chatting with my friend like normal just to keep her spirits up, but i'm still deeply worried.

this thing ain't no joke, so if anyone hasn't been vaccinated yet, i implore you to get it asap!

Like Rona has a shot taking down BN! Better chance Eternals is certified fresh at this point!

Rona is just a bald bastahd!!

Fully vaxxed...gonna booster either next week or the week after.

got my booster over a week ago.
had a stronger reaction compared to the previous two doses.

the next day after the booster shot, i developed minor chills and body aches.
but then started getting a pounding headache, so i had to take off work early.

so if possible, make sure u ladies and gents schedule ur booster shot on a friday or a saturday, so u can rest at home the next day!

Got my two shots, but I believe we're still waiting on the Canadian government to approve the third shot.
