Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Decided to do a double feature and watch Die Hard 2 today as well. Definitely a dip from the first one but a very fun 90s action film nonethless. The whole climax and how Willis dispatches of the bad guys is absolutely ridiculous and cartoonish but f*** it, its a movie, right?Yippi kay yay motha...
I'm grateful to the last couple Die Hard's, if only because they gave me a MUCH greater appreciation for DH2 than I used to have.

So WW84 is out in cinemas here.
I'm not going to spoil anything, listening to others after the film most folk seemed to enjoy it. But I was quite disappointed.

It's so very obvious that Bruce just isn't interested in acting anymore and is just there to collect the paycheck that I'm not even sure why the studios bother. Not just in the later Die Hards but his entire cinematic output the last 15 years or so.

Given everything I've heard about him over the years, I suspect he was always pretty much just in it for the paycheck, but there was simply a time in which he at least had to work for it. Now he doesn't have to, so, he doesn't.

If you haven't already, I'd Youtube Kevin Smith talking about Bruce Willis from Live Free or Die Hard and his experience directing Willis in Cop Out. Funny stuff! In the Die Hard stuff, Smith makes it seem like Willis really is invested in the franchise. In the Cop Out stuff, it's clear BW is kind of an A-hole...

Bruce did 'Looper' and Moonrise Kingdom post Cop Out. I agree that most of the stuff he does is mainly for a paycheck, but he seems to only really be an ass when he knows the film sucks. RRodriguez and RJ were all surprised by KS experience. He at the very least tried to give a damn on 'Glass'' but MNight pissed his pants on that.

For my time traveling film/series aficionados on here, I enjoyed this way more than TENET. What a gem of a film. This film sat on the shelf since 2018, till it finally got some kind of distribution on the 11th of this month. The ending doesn't really work, but the rest of the film is fun and more engaging.

Yea Looper was great, forgot about that one. Haven’t seen Moonrise Kingdom but even if he’s on a film he thinks sucks, it’s still no justification for acting like a jerk. I mean, with his level of star, I’m assuming he doesn’t audition and gets to read the scripts before he signs on so he must have an idea of suckage before signing. So if he knows it’s gonna suck and wants the paycheck anyway, just smile and nod, say your lines and don’t give the others working hard on the project a rough time. Eh?

Also, listened to the Russian synth wave you posted earlier and enjoyed it. I thought it could’ve easily been utilized in Atomic Blonde, which if you haven’t seen I’d recommend. Love that movie and missed it in theaters. Heard some scuttle bucket it’s maybe getting a sequel on Netflix.

Ermergerd...this just popped up on my YouTube recommendations...it’s a bit of the score used in the Mandalorian finale. Putting it in spoiler tags in case you haven’t already seen the episode. If you have, enjoy, and turn it up! It’s haunting and heroic at the same time.

My favorite bit is showing airport chief of security the blanks.

Live Free or Die Hard is a fun sequel, but it did help me appreciate Die Hard 2 more. A Good Day to Die Hard has glimmers of a decent movie, but it is clearly not a John McClane movie as the title suggests, it's Bruce and Jai playing generic action cliches, with a twist that just turns the head and rolls the eyes automatically.
At the window jump is a fun action moment.

i'm loving the soundtrack by gorensen.
it is distinct from john williams work but also sounds like it can be an extension of it.

somehow it feels very much "star wars"-y but its own sound too.

i rewatched the mandalorian season 2 finale and been listening to the sountrack.
so much feels.

also it makes me even more angry at what happened with the sequel trilogy.
if i ever see kathleen kennedy, jj abrams, and rian johnson (!) i am gonna drop kick them on the sidewalk!!!

You know that scene in Godfather II when Michael gives the kiss of death to his own brother after discovering his backstabbing plan? Tis’ what Nancy Pelosi agreed to do with working Americans. All these suits politicians in general dont care about ANY folks.

Well said dude. It sounds fresh AND familiar.

I didn't grow up deep into Star Wars, but I've always loved the themes involved and am excited to see how they decide to play with this whole block of time between Jedi and Force Awakens. Really wish they'd just gone full Sebastian Stan for Luke and announced one more show for him...

it's a dog and pony show with them.

they maintain their hold on power and majority of the wealth by having us plebians fight amongst each other for their table scraps.

i grew up in the 80s watching the OT, so this stuff has been nigh euphoric for me, especially after the disappointment of the sequel trilogy.

i wish i was godzilla here while rian johnson is megalon:
