Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I'm not a defender of BVS by any means, but I do feel in retrospect that a lot of the negativity was heightened by the dual punch of Marvel's movies being massively successful AND this being the first Batman movie since the beloved Nolan trilogy concluded. Expectations were really high, and I don't think anyone, even the pessimists, foresaw just how toxic the discourse was gonna immediately become.

I still remember the days when the cult was convinced that the MCU and Disney were paying off RT critics for positive reviews. Some people are just weird.

Disney may not actively pay people for good reviews, but people are biased for Marvel.

Just look at Eternals and see how many reviews definitely trash the movies in their content, but the reviewers still give a not-rotten scores to the reviews. I dont read all the reviews, but i just saw people pointing it out on reddit, and the fact now it is really struggling to go either way of the scale more or less of 60 is funny lol.

The clickbaiters knew...because they saw the reactions to every bit of news. When Affleck was announced the reaction was expected and so the clickbaiters played their usual game of "well I am hearing this and that and" figuring it will garner some clicks and then people will move on. the problem is the rumors lingered and compounded and even after they went away they would always find a way back. By the time the real info started leaking out and then the film got delayed (and clickbaiters were help spread rumors Affleck quit the film) it was a 4 alarm fire blazing out of control and the clickbaiters were addicted like junkies.

I mean think about it...an obviously fake script where Lois Lane is called "Louis" throughout and Martha (why did I say that name?) Kent is drunk and hitting on her (amongst other obvious things like the watermark being wrong) was accepted as reality by almost everyone in the nerd press to the point that the guy who wrote it as a joke had to come out and say he did it just to mess with them. This was after most of them for like 2 months slow releasing the info (and saying they got it from inside sources at WB) within it to rev up the clicks. Even after he proved he made it up some (like Eh Maybe) refused to believe it and stood by it. Meanwhile clowns like John Campea were getting trolled by Jaime Alexander that she read the script and was likely going to be Wonder Woman even though Gal was already cast in the film and everyone assumed she was Diana. When he was proven wrong on everything he went toxic on the film and Gal. There was more too. By the time it came out there was a very vocal contingent of fans and bloggers that you could tell were hoping it was bad...

Outside of politics I have never seen anything quite like what happened. It was like a massive feedback loop that just kept building and building. I mean talk about divides you were either gonna love it (I mean the trailers and news always broke the internet) or you were going to hate it (lots of toxic people spreading toxic garbage) and honestly I would bet a lot of people didn't even know how predisposed to a massive overreaction either way they were set up for. I happen to like it a lot but most of the arguments made against it are sound. But the amount of hate it got was disproportional to the quality (good or bad) of the film.

People are biased for things they like. DC fans are biased about DC. Marvel fans are biased about Marvel. Star Wars fans are biased about Star Wars.

Still, its funny how the "disney pays critics crowd" have all left the building.

Time to come up with a new excuse.

At 57% now.
I don't wanna be that guy but...:funny:

those who says "disney pays critics" doesn't mean it. sports fans always say "the refs are paid off" when their team loses, it's the same thing.

There are definitely some crazies who actually were pushing that as the legit excuse, though. There was that embarrassing petition to get the site shut down because it was supposedly compromised by Disney money.

Ofc fans are biased, but if critics are, then are they even critics? We are talking about critics. I only brought this up here because even marvel fans on marvel sub reddits are talking about it.

I am indifferent about marvel.

Okay...
That's pretty friggin' cool.

Always been a fan of hers, from Kingsman to (in my opinion) the very underrated Star Trek Beyond.

Heck, she almost made watching The Mummy 2017 worth it.

Almost.

So if Sofia Boutella is playing the heroine of Snyder's new sci-fi epic, who would you like to see play the bad guys?

A newcomer?
Snyder alumni?

Here's my choices for Belisarius, the big bad tyrant of the flick.
