Lounge of Justice - Part 90

You could explain it saying that the mirror has a biased opinion.

It really frustrates me to see Superman reduced to being compared to a bunch of D-List characters.

I’ve felt that way since 2012, and it’s only gotten worse since then
Compared? He's -much to my dismay- placed even lower than D-listers. :csad:
From all the reviews I've read, the general consensus is it's way too long for what it is, and boring, and not much chemistry between the leads and too much exposition, so pretty much all the things opposite of what made the rest of the MCU consistently successful.
So it's a new Dune (1984)?

eternals is too deep for them.

i'm fairly hyped to watch it.
that jack kirby stuff. <3
i will probably wait till it streams on disney plus though.

I highly doubt it is too deep any more than Snyder's films are too deep. (I realize the quality of director is different)

I wonder if the "Marvel Method" finally caught up with them. By that I mean the idea that they let the director deal with the story and have the action often filmed on their own. It is often very jarring but acceptable but maybe with Chloe and with these characters and story it just doesn't work. I know I saw that complaint about Black Widow as well.

Nice to see a good audience score but we all know that if that is all you have to hang your hat on (and decent BO) then something went wrong. Plus we also know those numbers can be "worked".

BTW this movie's ratings indicate how JL movie without any buildup would have received by the Critics.

The DCEU fan in me feels like I will end up loving this movie haha.
I usually don't rewatch MCU movies after their respective theatrical run but Eternals will definitely get a lot more watching sessions from me compared to the rest of the franchise.

Was it a perfect movie? **** no. But I loved how it feels different compared to the other films in the MCU. Definitely the most beautifully shot movie of the franchise in my eyes.

I actually think a JL movie with no buildup can work if done right. First off, it's just one more character than GotG. Second, the GA already have AT LEAST a passing knowledge of who these people are already just from general pop culture. The least known is probably Cyborg and Aquaman, but with SUpes, bats, WW, and Flash there, it's not that big an issue. Nobody knew who the Eternals are, and there's 10 of them lol.

I’ve come around on the idea that a JL movie without “proper build up” can work

only catch is that it has to be heavily inspired by Cooke’s New Frontier

Gal Gadot To Play Evil Queen In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’

Disney's gonna have a hard time trying to convince me that the absolute smokeshow that is Gal Gadot would be jealous of Rachel Zegler's looks...

:hmm

Not that it would matter to somebody like the Queen.

Regardless of who's prettier, I've met some really, really self-absorbed jerks who went ballistic at just the idea of somebody taking just a scrap of attention away from them.

It's all about ego.

Eternals has a larger cast than the you'd ideally have in a first Justice League movie and on top of that, has the task of introducing a very complex and convoluted cosmology into the franchise. I can see why Eternals would be much harder to pull off.

For all the problems with the script, I still think Miller's Justice League would've worked.

You know it really is annoying just how much of a running joke DC has become in pop culture, it’s even more infuriating when you genuinely love both companies equally.

It's a great illustration of why first impressions are so important. There are more "fun" DCEU movies (The Suicide Squad, Shazam, Birds of Prey, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and its sequel, even the theatrical cuts of Justice League and the first Suicide Squad) than gritty ones now, but the predominate pop culture joke is still about DC movies being boring, depressing and self-serious.

There’s legit been one somewhat sad DCEU film unless you want to count Joker. The entire critique has always been lazy as **** to me.

I feel The New Gods would have suffered from the same issues. That is a lot of story for a 2-2.5 hour film.

The Eternals is showing the problem with episodic filmmaking. Once you go outside the formula you risk it going off the rails.
