Lounge of Justice - Part 90

i enjoyed shang-chi.
the ending was a bit bonkers - but i was fine with that.
it went from a martial arts fantasy to a full on kaiju movie while dealing with themes of family, guilt, and grief.
so i found a lot of it relatable.

my 7 year old liked it but it was probably sensory overload for him - this was the first time he ever watched a superhero movie.
the cool thing about that is his reference point for a superhero now is someone who looks like him and speaks the same languages as him.

That's so cool to hear.

I will never get the fascination with Oscar Isaac...I am not sure someone has been fancast more that has been that mediocre in most things. I mean he is reaching Armie Hammer levels...

I mean even the Star Wars films couldn't hide it...and they had dozens of awful things to notice ;)

Nah, Isaac is a good actor.

He is simply being overexposed at the moment. You can tell he didn't give a damn about SW flicks tho. Heh. I can't blame him for doing much as possible before hollywood forgets about him, like it does with so many others.

I mean, Eric Bana should be getting better roles.

Clive Owen should be an in demand actor, tis' kinda shameful what happened to his career. I recently rewatched 'Children of Men' , which is a damn masterpiece, he was brilliant as always.

I'll never not be bitter over the fact that Hollywood never once found a use for the Eric Bana we got in Chopper.

And Oscar has been fantastic in a lot of things. If anyone hasn't watched HBO's Show Me A Hero, I highly recommend it.

I should have said he was mediocre in genre stuff. My bad.

And yeah Clive Owen and Eric Bana have been done dirty for sure. Are they hard to deal with or something because they have more skill than most actors out there getting great parts.

Proving neither of those movies were anything more than just PR which many of us said at the time. Di$ney was not going to let their Zack Snyder continue to bring down Star Wars with divisive films and Patty Jenkins is way too much of a free thinker to make it work. Maybe if WW 84 hadn't been a mess they would have considered it but not now.

I will say again, Patty should thank her lucky stars WW84 was on HBO Max because the bad press the second week implosion would have caused would have been catastrophic for her career. Her whining about it (and then releasing that Star Wars video announcement which didn't seem weird or bitter at ALL towards WB) after they basically gave her carte blanche and then kept delaying the release trying to get it in theaters (as Nolan was also whining and forcing their hand on the overrated TENET) looks even worse now. I like Patty but she played this hand completely wrong and now if WW3 isn't a smash she is kind of stuck.

And while I know she is still saying Cleopatra will happen...I don't buy it in the least bit.

Bana has always struck me as one of those guys who is too handsome for his level of talent. Felt like Hollywood wanted him to be a leading man type but he was really more of a character actor. Kinda like Brad Pitt only Bana never took to it the way Pitt did.

brad pitt might've been the hotter guy in troy, but i enjoyed bana's performance more in it (he's still hot too...just not brad pitt bronze god level hot).
achilles was the more show-boaty role and pitt was very good in that.
but it's bana's hector all the way for me.

i also liked him in ang lee's hulk.
don't care what people say bout that movie...it's still the best hulk movie for me!

Mouse doesn't really know what to do with SW. Heh.

Agreed Bana is way better in the film. Pitt is perfect for Achilles cause the way he is written is as a basic action hero. He is there for the battle. Hector has an actual story.

yup. while hector is a badass in his own right - he is portrayed like an actual human being and is the better person of the two.
he was the real hero of the movie for me.

I know we have so much damn streaming services, but the Criterion Channel is the one that kinda makes me feel warmth.

Well that is part of the issue with the Trojan War in general though. Take the Gods out of the Iliad and you have uber d-bag Achilles fighting a war that he honestly has no place in against Hector who is fighting to save his kingdom because his brother is a whipped loser who stole the wife of a megalomaniac.

Man the casting of that film was perfect. I mean you have Orlando Bloom as Paris, Diane Kruger as Helen, the aforementioned Pitt and Bana as Achilles and Hector, Sean Bean as Odysseus, Peter O'Toole as Priam and of course:

So Gal launched a healthy mac n cheese business, which I already placed an order. She a goddamn saint. Brie Larson could never.

:o

After watching the latest SM trailer, average Joe must be thinking about how Jon watts is going to make Tom Holland's Spidey single handedly defeat GG, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard and Electro. And maybe Vulture, Mysterio, Venom and Morbius too in the same movie. :o
