Lounge of Justice - Part 90

Wow, would love to get my hands on this, but it's like over $20 CAD after rate conversion...

I know tis probably old school sexist and totally outdated at this point, but watching the miss universe thing right now. Miss India just 'meow' like a cat as one of her talents. Not to mention the judges are mixed with bloody nobodies. TIs a beautiful mess, literally.

Miss France and Miss Costa Rica is all kinds of hnnngh tho!

What are the Women even doing who win those beauty contests?
What do they even win?

I didnt knew those beauty contests still exist.

"I wonder why Nancy Reagan is trendi..."

Yeah that was awesome!

Just finished rewatching The Matrix trilogy. I have never been a fan of the sequels…until this week.

These flicks work better in today’s world than they do in the early 2000s. Damn near every major heroic character is a woman or BIPOC, which fits the narrative so well. Because of course these people would largely be the ones to reject The Matrix. But this was not a conversation folks were ready to have in their blockbusters.

And man, I love how the Wachowskis just completely pull the rug out from under you in Reloaded with the reveal that The One is just a system of control. I was too young to really get that twist when I first heard it. I was also deeply religious at the time. As an adult who walked away from faith, that scene hits so much harder.

Really pumped for Resurrections now and my hype was already at an all time high.

The girlfriend hadn't watched them since they were released so we did a month ago. Halfway through Revolutions I said the same thing. There is still too much of certain things which drags it down (a lot of the fight scenes with Smith are bad and the CGI didn't age well but the fight at the Merovingian's house is still epic!) but man I really like them now. Also, thinking back to old discussions I used to have about Reloaded (especially Neo being able to control machines outside the Matrix) has given me some possible theories as to why Resurrections is happening.

I don't think the end of the war happened. I think that the "real world" i.e. Zion was actually a second level of The Matrix meant to keep the mind going even after it has figured out the truth. That is why Neo keeps his powers and that is why he and Trinity aren't dead despite being very very dead at the end of the film. Everything works out too perfectly. Neo somehow is able to just walk right into The Machine City, broker a deal with machines that are seconds away from destroying Zion and reboots the Matrix bringing about peace. While it makes sense in the context of this trilogy if they only planned 3 films, if you think about it that is way too perfect an ending. I think that was another level of control, let the people think they won and lull them into a new false sense of security. Then keep them blind by giving them tech to entertain them.

Either that or the Smith Virus screwed the entire Matrix up no matter how much they fix it so The Machines bring them back hoping having the yin and yang and fix it again.

I love Matrix Reloaded. Didn’t like Revolutions apart from a few scenes.

Gonna have to peep this. Really like Yang's Shang-Chi series.

recently read yang's superman smashes the klan. good stuff.
he might be one of my favorite comic book writers right now.

some of his non-mainstream comics that i really liked if you haven't read them before:

Animal Crackers
The Eternal Smile
Boxers and Saints
The Shadow Hero

Hung out with my brother-in-law a couple of weekends ago. He and I share the name Chris. Can now confirm that having a name in common is a fast track to friendship. I've never taken so many shots. Or should I say "Chris shots" because that's what we kept yelling whenever we poured them.

We also got tattoos together.

Lawd.

You should now do a co-op play of Resident Evil 5 just to hear Wesker hams it up going "Chriiiiis" before and after punching the boulder.

I haven't read that, but Superman Smashes the Klan is one of my favorite comics of the last decade, so I'm definitely interested.

I liked it as well.

yea it was probably one of the best superhero stories i read as of late.

if you liked that, you should definitely check out yang's The Shadow Hero.
it's like an homage to early pulp / golden age superheroes - but through the lens of the immigrant experience.

Apparently Simmons talked about Affleck in relation to Batgirl. Or dropped his first name at least... but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Flashback cameo?
