After a long day, I ate a big bowl of chili, sure warmed me up after feeding the little monsters outside

 

Chili is yummy.

Kind of funny to see the neighborhood facebook page turn into all requests for snow plowing their driveways.

Did laugh when the second time my apt staff went to clear the sidewalk, they went down the hill and god stuck.

Definitely over a foot, with more to come tonight. Staying in my covers.

 

I have a really good chili recipe. One of the keys is to mince jalapeños (jarred) and use some of the juice. Also I use tri tip, London broil, or other tougher but flavorful cuts. I let them simmer for awhile to get them tender and don’t overcook the beans. If you get it too spicy, you can put in a little milk to calm it down.

 

You can keep it, lol. At least this will be my first season not having to worry about getting to work on time after shoveling out.

 

I use my own chili sauce, never liked jalapeños, something about them just don't well with me

 

Gives you an excuse to take a break. At least you got stuff done. I fell asleep in my chair after lunch.

 

Tip for pros: Add "Resting" to your to do list, so you can count resting as part of your productive day.

Recipe?

Taste is very subjective, but the jarred jalapeños have a nice tang to them. The amount that I use is probably a tablespoon or two with a little bit of the juice. It’s very subtle in the overall mix, but I suppose it’s not for everyone. The taste is very different from fresh jalapeños. I like them, but get that they aren’t for everybody.

 

I’ll be sure to add that in after the two construction projects I’m managing are finished. As things go now, rest ain’t on the table. I can’t wait until it is.

Honestly? No clue, I put a bit of this and bit of that and whatever I have in the cabinet, always works out for me

 

I do things pretty much to taste also but there are certain things that I definitely use. Chopped onions, sautéed in butter and olive oil, salt, and pepper, and garlic/garlic powder is the mix I use to cook the meat in. Typically I use about half inch squares and cook them until tender. Usually on low heat and covered. It takes a while. Then I add the beans. I usually use canned chili beans. Once I add the beans, it’s pretty much done, and I don’t cook them for too long. that’s when I start to add stuff to get the flavoring just right. I use diced tomatoes, maybe a little tomato purée or paste, and then start flavoring it with chili powder, minced jarred, jalapeños, garlic powder, cumin, etc. The fun part is tasting it as you’re adding things to it to get it just right.

 

They showed a clip of her talking at the podium on Entertainment Tonight....you could tell that Katy was helping to steady her as she stood. That brought a tear to my eyes.

 

Good: It's warming up here, upper 40's to 50's

Bad: Damn wind blowing tons of leaves all over the place and causing a mess, especially at the back door where it's piling up. Looks like tomorrow I have leaf duty, again!
