Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Directed by Greg Berlanti (Dawson’s Creek, Brothers & Sisters), written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger (This is Us), and based on Becky Albertalli’s acclaimed novel, LOVE, SIMON is a funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.

In Theaters March 16, 2018

Cast: Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg, Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, Tony Hale.
A coming-of-age teen movie, with a gay lead, from a major studio?

Those One Million Moms broads don't have enough pearls to clutch over this one...

Yeah I got a good laugh out of that. Movie looks decent though.

That ending gag. There was a web short that I would love to be a full feature length film.
This still just seems like another rom-com. Haven't even seen TFiOS.

God, I hope this does good.

It was so enjoyable. Will probably see it again this weekend just to support the film some more!

Just got home from seeing this. I absolutely loved it, I thought it was wonderful. Genuinely heartwarming and emotional. I got teary eyed during some moments, which I don’t really do. Despite some of the aesthetics feeling very unrealistic and superficial, I thought all the characters were very real and- having only graduated last June- it really took me back and felt like what I remembered high school being like.

Not quite sure how I’d rate it yet, but I’m thinking at least an 8/10.

Looks like your generic boring romance drama movie that they release every year, it won't survive the box office anyways with Disney's huge hitters, Black Panther and A Wrinkle In Time on top of it.

Well, shucks. I guess they shouldn’t have spent $150 million on this special effects extravaganza then. When will movie studios ever learn?

Eh. I'll check this out when it's On Demand or streaming but doesn't really look that good.

Seems like a movie aimed for high schoolers, which can be good but doesn't look that interesting.

The only thing that makes this any different than a million quirky, coming-of-age teen movies is that he's gay. Not really that interesting in 2018.

At least Juno, as a comparison, was centered on a story that doesn't get told as much

I dont know if you are or arent but a lot of flack that the film is getting is "Oh it's too late for this/ it's unnecessary" and they are straight... I don't think their opinion is valid. If you aren't gay, you really can't say that this isn't interesting or necessary. This is important for the kid that is afraid to come out or for the kid who thinks it's wrong to have those feelings. A film of this topic with the amount of studio banking is a new thing and shows a sign of studios taking more risks with stories. It's not a huge risk but it's still a risk.

Sure, I can say this doesn't look that interesting, because to me, it merely looks like an okay teen coming of age tale.

I couldn't care less if you think my opinion is valid or not. Maybe I don't think YOUR opinion is valid either.

My opinion is my opinion and as mentioned, I'm sure I'll give it a shot but from my singular perspective, it's not really breaking any new ground. You can talk about big studios, or whatever but the aesthetic is really just a lower budget looking teen flick about dealing with sexuality.

. It's not like stories with young gay men are taboo anymore. Gays should get just as much equality with maintaining that a teen coming-of-age romance story is simply that.

I just saw it and loved it. I feel like every 10 years we have THE teen movie that defines the decade and I think this one certainly is for the 2010s.

Coming Out may be more common nowadays but it is still a taboo subject for a lot of teens/adults.

Though I did get a good chuckle out of 2 of the characters in the film being from 13 Reasons Why which gave me prequel vibes.

The thing is though, most gay films that come out and that are marketed to the wider public are either forbidden loves or stories that end with death/sadness (HIV/Aids). Most never feature teens and being accepted and appreciated and finding love. This sort of film shows a gay romance that isn't doom and gloom. That's whats important. I don't care what others think but I will stand behind my opinion of straights saying that this film is unnecessary. The film wasn't meant for them.

Nobody said it was unnecessary. You could argue most films are unnecessary. Just made a comment on my reaction to the trailer.

Straight people, gay people, and unicorns are allowed to have varied opinions and not have them dismissed.

I haven't seen it so I have no idea what happens by the end, jut saying it doesn't look great but I WILL STILL WATCH.

I haven't seen this but I doubt it would usurp The Perks of Being a Wallflower which captures a good mix of different types of teens

I totally forgot about that film lol. Well looks like this gen will have 2 films.

Though this film does capture different types of teens even though the main story is about Simon.

In Sydney, a Catholic School teen just came out to an auditorium of peers and began with quoting 'Love Simon.' This is why representation in film matters. It's always amazing to see the impacts that films can have in changing people's lives for the better.

Incredibly inspirational.
