The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker - Mark Hamill - Part 1

Maybe. I'd say he personally wants nothing to do with what's to come, but he'll do what he must anyway.

What do you guys believe Luke was feeling in the last scene?

He clearly sense her presence, I think he had a multiple reaction. He must return to restore balance to the Galaxy, my daughter is here and she probably has many questions, That's my father Lightsaber, and possible he is thinking about Rey's mother his wife who either died or was killed by Kylo-Ren onslaught perhaps...

Luke's expression when he sees Rey. It was the look of pain and determination. Generally, he just looked pissed off. He probably already knew about [BLACKOUT]Han's murder at the hands of his former padawan and nephew[/BLACKOUT].

I think he was conflicted. He knew what he had to do to restore balance in the galaxy, he just didn't want it to be Rey. I also believe he doesn't want to fail again seeing as how [BLACKOUT]this could be his daughter. [/BLACKOUT]

Luke is as powerful as what Darth Vader would've been had he not be burned in a volcano.

Agreed, in the Expanded Universe, Luke gained the position of Grand Master Jedi who could channel both sides light and dark powers at will.

Kylo Ren must have death wish.

This, Luke became the most powerful Jedi ever. Vastly more powerful than Yoda, and rivaled only by Sideous. I would hope Luke is atleast AS powerful as the most powerful users in both the OT and PT by this point.

I saw pain. A HELL of a lot of pain. His expression was sort of, "Oh, ****, I really have to do this, don't I?"

I'm sure he felt it when
Han died, and I'm sure he'd been grieving over his friend's death ever since. The realization that Ben/Kylo had killed Han must have filled Luke with such a sense of guilt, failure, and loss that I'm sure if he could have he would have died himself, on the spot.

Remember that Luke is, at heart, still that earnest farmboy from Tatooine. He doesn't have the walls of cynicism to protect his heart like Han does; and his doesn't have the distance of bureaucracy to keep himself from feeling things too deeply, like Leia does. Take a look at his face at the end of the original Star Wars and you'll see that what makes Luke happy - all he really wants - is to know that he did good and everything is going to be OK.

Well, at the end of TFA, everything is definitely not OK. He couldn't save the galaxy, he couldn't save his friend, and at this moment he's probably thinking he's old, he's spent, and he's a total screw-up. Right now all he wants to do is fade into the earth and disappear, and bury the Skywalker line forever.

But what happens instead? A young girl with strong Jedi powers shows up with HIS LIGHTSABER - the same one that, when last he laid eyes on it, was spinning away from him into the Bespin air shafts, along with his hand and his innocence. Thirty seconds before that happened, he only saw Darth Vader as the universe's worst enemy. Thirty-one seconds later, Darth Vader was his father.

And now it's come back, attached to a girl who's giving him a look like, save us, Luke Skywalker, you're our only hope.

Sh#t.

Sh#t.
That's what I'm reading in Luke's face.

It's not the years, it's the mileage. The guy looks like he's been through hell and back in that last scene. It's what I'm most pumped about the next one. I don't think Luke will be as forthcoming to train Rey. I don't even think Luke has all his **** together to train another Jedi, unlike Yoda. Though [BLACKOUT]Han dying[/BLACKOUT] and realizing what he in a way has let happen in his absence will bring him out of hiding to confront his mistake. But at the same time, he recognizes he has to train Rey.

Seeing Hamill portray a master type is something I'm very excited for, though I don't think it will be Alex Guiness like. I think Luke as a master this time will be less patient and in some ways, Rey will have to help Luke out just as much as he will have to help her. They really need each other if there's any hope for either of them to come out to defeat Kylo Ren.

Makes sense all that.

Incredible interview with Mark Hamill, he is so down to earth and nice. He's able to handle being interview and enjoy it quite a bit. He's still able to do that now in that he doesn't give to much away but just enough to set up the tease.

So I assume Luke will be keeping his green lightsaber and passing on his original to Rey, right? I prefer his green one.

Does he even has it? I was never clear to me if he left it at the death star or not.

Great vids. That's why I love coming to this site. Great little gems hidden everywhere. I never seen this before and it was cool hearing them talk about Star Trek. Also mark Hamill is very articulate and intelligent.

I believe he was reacting more to the saber and what it represented (the Jedi order, his failure with Ben Solo) more so than reacting to Rey.

I hope he has the green saber in EP VIII.

Yeah same. The Green Saber is his true lightsaber. The blue was his father's an heir loom, but not as personal as the one he made himself.

The price of fame.

This is what I'm thinking as well.
