I just have to say that even though this series is set during the Korean war it is so much more then a war show. My first experience with it was watching reruns with my dad. There are so many life lessons that can be learned from this program. I thought out of all the shows that are out there this show deserved an application thread.

Klinger, Radar, Hawkeye, Colonel Potter, and Hot Lips Houlian. They are all enduring characters that have stood the test of time. I even went as Hawkeye for Halloween last year. Anyway what are some of your memories of this great show?

I whole-heartedly endorse this thread.

Though I'm sure there are many that would disagree, I much prefer the BJ Hunnicutt/Colonel Potter episodes to the Trapper John/Henry Blake episodes.

The best sitcom/dramedy ever

When they ended the show, it wasn't because the show had poor ratings. It was because they figured the Korean War had to end sometime. The show lasted 3 times as long as the actual conflict.

Would somebody shut that damn chicken up! Lol I just caught that reference in the 30 Rock season finale and showed my dad cuz he loves MASH. Its a great show but Ive never actually sat and watched all of it though.

"IT WAS A BABYYYY!!!" :csad:

That finale was ****ed up/awesome.

Yea seeing Hawkeye just lose it like that was badass. Fn classic ending

I agree that BJ/Potter was the better episodes. I enjoyed it much more when Charles replaced Frank also.

I feel the series was almost 3 shows: The first three seasons, which were closer to the movie, then a transitional period when BJ and Potter came in, but Frank was still there, then the later period, by which time the show had become much more serious and dramatic. Early on it was a comedy with moments of drama, but by the end it had become a drama with touches of comedy.

I'd love to see someone do a heavy metal version of the theme song. The lyrics are perfectly suited for heavy metal.

One of my all time favorite episodes was also one of the most serious. It was a real time episode. A young soldier comes in on the chopper with a hole in his chest. Hawkeye puts his hand into the kids chest and pinches off the artery with his fingers. Then he says something like "If we don't get a graft on this kids aorta in about 20 minutes he'll either be dead or paralyzed!" Then he asks the pilot for the time and the camera focuses on the clock in the chopper. The moment the pilot reads out the time, there's a little clock in the lower right hand corner of the screen which stays there the whole episode. That was a great episode.

Probably my favorite funny episode was when BJ and his wife arranged a party for their families back in the states, a "family reunion" of sorts. That one was warm and endearing, but at the same time very funny. I especially liked Pegs letter to BJ at the very end and everyone's reactions to the events at the "reunion" (like how Charles was mortified that his parents had become so fond of Radar's family, and BJ and Hawkeye's delight at his reaction).

I honestly don't remember ever seeing the series finale, and they never play it in reruns on History Television.

THose are both awsome episodes. I had never cried before at a TV show tell I saw the episode where Henery Blake died. I remember being devistated.

Yeah, that was sad. I also liked the episode when Col. Potter first shows up to replace Col. Blake.

I always thought the funniest episodes were the ones with Col. Flagg. That guy was hilarious.

"Don't play dumb with me! You're not as good at it as I am!"

Just watched the episode where Hawkeye and Trapper make up an imaginary doctor named Captain John Tuttle. The episode's one of the funniest they've ever made.
