I was a big fan of it back in 2003...I had tons of stages, characters, and all that, but eventually, I kinda ran it out but now I'm trying to get back into it and re-build..The sad part is, that most of the MUGEN sites with stages and characters have died and alot of them are suspended so things are running scarce. Not to mention how alot of recent MUGEN patches and programs are having trouble with Windows XP software, which really sucks..

So, I was just wondering if there were still anyone out there that still have MUGEN and if they're still using it or whatever..

I recently downloaded a M.U.G.E.N pack,but i can't figure at all how to add characters.Can anyone help?

Hey, I can see that some of you still have MUGEN and most of your characters (I lost all of mine, including Evil Ryu, Captain Commando, and all of the other greats)..

It'd be cool if we could find a way to uh, share our MUGEN characters.. (wink*) Alot of my favorite sites are gone now..

BTW, the sound for my BGM is always choppy...Why is that?

How do you add chars?

You go to a site that has a character that you want and download the file. It's usually in a zip or rar file.

Anyway, usually a folder is extracted and inside there are a bunch of files including a def file. You want to put that entire folder into the chars folder in wherever directory the rest of your MUGEN program and other files and folders are located. After that, you go into the main data folder and open up select. Go down to "Insert your characters below".

You want to make a new line like this:

kfm, stages/kfm.def

But, instead of the first "kfm", insert the name of your new character, exactly the way it's spelled on the character folder and on the main .def file that's inside the character folder. If they are not the same name, then your character might not display on the select screen properly.

So, if you downloaded Ryu from a site and his folder is named "ryu", after putting this folder into the chars folder, you make the line in data/select as:

ryu, stages/kfm.def

OR

ryu, random

("stages/kfm.def" means that the stage for your character when you fight him will be the KFM stage, which references your stages folder)

Keep the char trading in PM... Mugen folk tend to be testy about their work...

BTW THWIP* I know it doesn't explain much... but I was cramming a sentence fragment in a small usernaname... Like bush4prez... I was trying to get people into helping me get Doc Ock's fat ass in mugen...

I have mugen. but im getting bored with it. you can only do so much with a 2D fighter creator game. what i want to do is, take these characters i have & run them through an RPG program.

like exploring levels, & beating up foes. but i can't find an RPG program where you can download & play off your computer.
