Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 1

Mel Gibson was a gorgeous mother****er, mane.

It still holds up. I saw it maybe two months ago and it's just so badass all the way through. I have to get a Blu Ray copy before or after Fury Road comes out. What I am wondering is what I would think about Thunderdome these days. As a kid I was underwhelmed by it in theaters. Then my appraisal started to rise as I saw it over time, each time enjoying it more. But I haven't sat down and seen an unedited version in well over 15 years I think, not even on DVD. I wonder what I'd think today. I'll probably do a rewatch of all the Gibson Max films before I see Fury Road.

theron is not doing it for me as a tough character going by that trailer. too hollywood/pretty. would have liked to seen a harder edge to the casting. hope i am wrong but this is looking too stylistic in comparison to the original, mainly australian localised trilogy. i trust miller but not hollywood

Mad Max was stylistic given it's budget and the resources available to Miller at the time. Each of the original Max film's got more stylistic as they went on. Again... Huh?

She shaved off all her hair, she's covered in greasepaint and has a robot arm.


Don't get me wrong, she still turns me on but I wouldn't call her look "Hollywood pretty."
