Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 1

By far my favorite trailer so far. I like that it shows more of the story, and more of Hardy's Max.

And it looks like we'll have at least some set-up and screen time establishing Immortan Joe, which is good.

I don't think I've ever seen a trailer that made me smile as much as I did.

While the footage in the new trailer is awesome, the previous trailer had more of a structure to it with a musical climax.

I'm not a crazy fan of the franchise or Miller, but it was very well shot. If you're gonna do crazy ass **** and spectacle, at least make it look good.

Ha, Fast ain't got a thing on this. This is how you do insanity with cars, and actually make it work. Everything has weight, everything looks like it hurts.

They are rebuilding his car!!! :mrk:

Considering the branding, I wonder if Theron's character use to be one of the girls in white, from the past.

This film looks terrific, no wonder WB gave it such an plumb spot.
March probably would have been better, but whatever. Looks absolutely amazing.

I got that impression too. It would add context to why she wants to save them.

Exactly. A bit of motivation. It also is a great look into the future. The potential fate of these young women.

I never thought about it but yeah March probably would have been perfect.

I fear it being squeezed by AoU and Tomorrowland. Not to mention Pitch Perfect 2 the week before. God, May is going to be awesome. :atp:

But the only film that has to really bring in the dough for a sequel is Fury Road. And I fear it is being set up to fail. I really, really hope I am wrong.

I gonna hold off watching the trailer and just wait for the film, they had my ticket from the first trailer.

The public could be up for a kick ass R rated film in the month of May. Depends if it's good and if the timing's right. Mainly the timing. But hopefully it's good which will help a movie like this. Hopefully this isn't too unorthodox for mainstream audiences. But who knows, I once thought blue cat alien people were too unorthodox for a mainstream audience too. You just never know.

Wow, just saw the latest trailer... talk about mind-blowingly awesome!

I'll wait until I see Furious 7 on Friday to see this trailer.

I don't think a studio sets up their 150 million dollar film to fail.:oldrazz: Also I'm not so sure that Tomorrow Land is a guaranteed hit.

That trailer was ridiculously amazing! :wow:

That said, I share Darth's concerns about its box office prospects. Hope those concerns turn out to be unfounded.

The problem is Tommorrowland doesn't need to do much to hurt Fury Road. Imagine if AoU only does $50m in its third welcome. Conservative I say. And say Tomorrowland opens only $50m. Which it won't, because it is Disney, it is Bird and it is Memorial Day weekend. $80m plus is far more likely. That is not good for Fury Road. Not in the least. It already has the uphill battle of being rated-R.

So do I. But I worry.

Miller seems to have got a hand on how to integrate modern CGI spectacle and old school action techniques (am I the only one that noticed some "over cranking" styled speed stuff in the parts where Max is being chased on foot?) to make some impressive spectacle? What's interesting to me is that each trailer shows more and more but the way they've been done, I don't feel spoiled in the least.

You have some huge box office predictions for Tomorrowland and maybe you will be right like you were with Guardians but I'm not feeling that 80 million number right now.

That trailer... was insane. I don't care if this flops. The film will awe and influence those who watch it for years to come. Good lord.

Sweetie, I am always right. :yay:

But honestly, do you expect it to do under $50m opening weekend, on Memorial Day? Really? Wouldn't that be like legendarily bad? Its Disney, they have become the masters of the final 6-8 weeks of marketing. Remember when Cinderella, Frozen, Maleficent and and Big Hero 6 were going to under perform?
