Magdalena Finds Director and Writer

Director Ryuhei Kitamura(Versus) and writer Holly Brix are attached to "Magdalena," a film developed around the Top Cow Prods.' comics character.

Magdalena, a descendant of Mary Magdalene, is a protector of the Catholic Church.

Valhalla Motion Pictures' Gale Anne Hurd and Platinum Studios' Scott Mitchell Rosenberg are set to produce. Top Cow's Marc Silvestri will exec produce with Randy Greenberg of the Greenberg Group.

Kitamura, repped by CAA, directed "Midnight Meat Train" for Lionsgate and Lakeshore. Brix, repped by ICM and BenderSpink, wrote "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" for Lionsgate and After Dark Films.

Jenna Dewan ("Step Up") and Luke Goss ("Hellboy II: The Golden Army") are attached to star.

The writer sounds terrible, and I don't read any top cow books so I don't know who this is. Glad to see the director of Versus, and Godzilla Final Wars on it though.

Yeah, having "Butterfly Effect 3"(not even B.E. 2?!?!) on your resume is far from encouraging! But the director is a definite plus. Versus is one of the best martial arts action movies I've ever seen, and I'll always love what he did on Midnight Meat Train, even if the people at Lionsgate sacrificed it to the altar of Saw.
