Maggie Grace probably likes Luc Besson a lot — he produced Taken, in which she played the kidnapped daughter of Liam Neeson. She’s already attached to Taken 2 (which may or may not get made) and now she’s set to co-star with Guy Pearce in the Besson-produced space thriller Lockout. Deadline has few details to offer, saying first that Lockout “transports a Taken-like premise to outer space.” The script is by Besson and co-directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, and the other details we have make the film sound a lot like a retread of Taken in space.

Guy Pearce is attached to the role of “a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates” Who plays the daughter? Grace, of course. I can already see the tagline on the poster: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I’m excited to see Pearce deliver his own take on a sort-of action hero, but beyond that? Hm.

The Wrap offers a few more details: Peter Stormare and Tom Hollander will also appear, for one. And with respect to the setting, it is “a prison that is orbiting 50 miles above Earth and houses 500 of the world’s most dangerous prisoners who are kept asleep by sophisticated methods until they suddenly awaken, causing all hell to break loose.” (So, just to keep track, now we’ve got Taken with shades of Escape From New York, Alien 3 and the sequence in Mass Effect 2 where you first encounter the character Jack.)

I have no idea why Pearce never became a huge star after L.A. Confidential and Memento. Definitely looking forward to seeing him star in a movie again.

yep, i can't understand it.

i think after time machine flopped, he kinda backed away from big studio pics.

I feel like Guy became very indeciive after Time Machine. It's not like he wasn't in good movies afterwards but he never struck a balance between indie and mainstream.

Awesome, hopefully it's Guy Pearce in "The Proposition" mode.

Just watched his turn in Count of Monte Cristo last night....forgot how awesomely swarmy he is in that.

Sounds good to me.

This could either be cool or just be ****.

I saw the title thread and thought it read "Macy Gray and Guy Pearce" LOL y;know how you look at things quicky and read them wrong.

Besson's movies are always cheesy or fun!

Oh God he wrote the Taxi remake with Queen Latifa...please say it aint so...:wow:

Didn't know he could scrape the barrel that low.

He didn't write the Taxi remake, just produced it.

Just saw the trailer for this looks slightly B-Movie but entertaining none the less. Rudy from Misfits is in it too

Loved the trailer. Like Shane Black in space.

Maggie Grace's fine ass. :o:up:

It just seems to me that Pearce never really want to become a big star, and after Time Machine tanked he just decided that it made the decision for him and stick with indie films afterward. He was really amazing in Memento and I think he could've become a respectible actor who appears in big-budgeted films every now and then, like Jeff Bridges and Aaron Eckhart are doing now.

The movies Guy Pearce has been the lead in besides The Propostion, The Count Of Monte Cristo and Momento haven't been very good but his got himself small supporting roles in award winning movies for the past few year in a row now. Films like THe Road, The Hurt Locker, The Kings Speech and the award winning tv adaptation of Mildred Pierce.

The first minute is cool as **** with its clever editing and badass Guy Pierce. Do want.

Eddie wasn't kidding when he said Shane Black in space. It's pretty vulgar.

Finally got around to seeing it, the banter between Buy Pearce and the guy punching him is very much like a tamer version of the classic scene from The Last By Scout. The quick shots of action were too fast to tell if that aspect of the movie will be any good, but I already like Pearce's character and he comes off a bit like Pitt.
