In the new issue of Thunderbolts next week, they show the press conference on TV. Peter doesnt have his mask on. They are referring to him as Mr Parker, asking him about Gwen Stacy, marrying MJ, etc.

Still....something this major, I have to see with my own eyes.

If it's true, then I'm done....with Marvel. Period. This is THE inforgiveable sin. It's something that we all know they'll try and retcon away in the next year, and I still won't come back. If this is true, I'm leaving Marvel altogether and I will not be returning until there is new management.

Sure, we may get about a year of unbelievably great stories, but then what? How many "My archfoe has come for me through my loved ones" stories can they possibly do before it all gets old? Hell, Electro alone could infiltrate Avengers HQ home and kill MJ and Aunt May in 2 seconds. Ock would do it in no time....and he's torture them all along the way.

This si so stupid...not because it's a bad idea for Spidey (which it is), but it's going to lead to the exact same stories we got in Daredevil, which were done far better than any "outting" of Spider-Man could ever be.

I know my "walking away from Marvel" won't have much effect, but I do spend about a thousand bucks a year on Marvel comics....if everyone else got fed up and did the same, that'd set them back a ways.

Oh, I hear ya, Shin. There IS the faint possibility that this guy over at comicboards is talking out of his ass, but then again he may not be, especially if the scene he describes in Thunderbolts is taken from Civil War #2, which is very likely, considering how Bendis said that a reveal of a character's identity would not happen in that character's own comic but in a "Civil War" issue.

i think it gets revealed in civil war 2, and they just show the same scene on a tv in that book.

If this is true then I am at a loss for words. Joe Q wants to take Spidey back to the status quo, but with all the butchering he's done to the character he's done just about the entire opposite IMO. Joe Q knows nothing about Spider-Man, and if the rumor on MJ getting the boot is true, I'm leaving all the books the second I get confirmation on that.

You can NEVER have another normal Peter Parker story ever.

He can't be a teacher. The Sinister Six would blow up his school, hell they'll probably do it when he isn't there out of spite.

He can't work for the Daily Bugle. If Jonah doesn't fire him off the bat, the danger factor once again reveals itself.

His loved ones can never leave Avengers Tower. They can never lead normal lives again. If they ever leave protective custody, their throats will be slit by one of the thousands of criminals Peter's put away.

He can never not be Spiderman now. He can never walk down the street without being mobbed.

More than likely its going to be retconned eventually, but more than likely thats going to be terrible.

I totally 100% agree. We're witnessing the death of peter parker, forget that, the death of the whole parker bloodline.

I've never been in more denial about ANY of this raping a good character until now. What the **** is up with Joey Q? It just got worse and worse... Joey Q... what is wrong with you?

I actually can't express feelings towards him right now. How can he be sitting back and thinking "Hey this'll fix Spidey, one of the very things that makes him unique!"

The thing with Civil War was, I never once thought I would read it as it'll be an entertaining yarn about our favourite heroes, or pissble match ups we've been waiting to see for years.

The reason I wanted to read it, was to see how far they pushed it. What they would do next to shock us into buying a handful more Marvel titles. What they would do to **** Spider-man up. Or what they would do to (in their minds) try and improve the Marvel universe.

I don't have faith in Marvel now to put out entertaining reads anymore.

There are only a handful of books that have me entertained these days. These are the titles that are either in the Ultimate Universe and therefore cannot be ****ed with as they are how they envision it.

Or they are too small for Marvel to actually bother doing anything with them.

I don't read Civil War as a diehard Marvel fan, I read Civil War as a diehard Spidey fan scared of what they are going to do next to piss on the character.

I don't really feel like reading Spider-Man anymore...maybe it's just me...but the most important aspect of the character is gone. Instead of Peter Parker trying to live both as civillian and superhero, he's just another Avenger stooge.... I'm just... speachless right now. How could Marvel drop the ball so badly?
