"Make America Great Again"the F'dup Chapters in American History (The Trump Years) - Part 2

I think by now discrediting any criticism, negatives, and indeed actual facts as 'FAKE!!' is gonna be the standard operating procedure for Trump and his cronies.

The S###Gibbon lost the popular vote: Fake voters.
The media calling out his mouthpieces lies: Fake News.
Protesters humiliating a flunky: Fake Protesters.

I'd say this is more a deliberate tactic than any delusion. Trumps die hard supporters will no doubt swallow the BS.

It's always been a deliberate tactic, at least for his staff around him, and in spite of his clear egomania, it's also probably an objective tactic by the man himself. It's about controlling the narrative. The narrative is all that matters to Trump, his people, his political allies, and his base, though the last is more the market than the sellers that come before.

Well before he was President Trump, businessman Trump always had one real major skill that has rarely failed him; his "brand building." Even when he was failing at his stated business of real estate and losing nearly a billion dollars and declaring bankruptcy, he managed to still have his name attached to a perception of success and wealth. That's why he's so litigious and paranoid about insults. That's why he was willing to let Comedy Central roast him on everything save his money. Money's the measuring stick he uses, or bluffs that eh uses, to show his success. Why do you think he was totally mum on using his daughter's "he knows what struggling is" argument after his bankruptcy? As long as his name is attached to the concept of success, it doesn't matter if he fails, he'll still make money or at least clear the hurdles that should down 90% of his peers. It's all perception.

And arguably, politics is the perfect field for this tactic... Provided he can avoid losing his "brand" appeal. People think he always succeeds, or at least they used to. There's a reason the hip-hop world used his name as a synonym for power and prestige until recently, even if a well informed observer could probably peg him as a lucky charlatan after his business fiasco in the 1990's. He's hurt his appeal to over half the country right now, but it won't quite matter politically if he can maintain his brand with his supporters. But if he continues to hit setbacks, and if any enemy can paint him as incompetent in the eyes of his supporters... He'd dead.

His base is made up of both the loathsome and the desperate; the latter are the "blue dog" Democrats who feel their old party abandoned them and feel helpless, and the last thing they want is to see their man be helpless. A lot of people who would probably be judged as personally good are willing to "pragmatically" back Trump, and bear alliances with forces even they loathe (fascists, racists, etc) because they think he's their only tool against being forgotten and having their issues addressed, and, most importantly, because they think he'll win, or at least improve their situation through his disruption. Even moderate Republicans were willing to support him because they have faith that the rest of their party will be able to contain his most dangerous traits.

He needs to be painted as a threat and liability to his own side. Right now, comedians are doing a better job of that than 99% of actual Democratic leaders. That aggressions, cynicism, and bluntness needs to be adapted by the Democrats as a whole, though with a mind towards the dignity of his office; his supporters need to be unplugged from the totalitarian narrative their in, and that means they have to trust that the old status quo is good. Trump needs to be opposed morally on the grounds of his immorality, but also philosophically to prevent a similar rise for someone else. Democrats need to focus on beating him at his own game, and that may require allying and encouraging those in the GOP who dissent with him, even to the point of cooperation and forcing their counterparts to admit Trump's inadequacies.

Kellyanne Conway just got lampooned on SNL again, this time as a psychopath.

The People's Court sketch was hilarious.

Flynn isn't worthy of his uniform, let alone National Security which he's already betrayed and lied about.

I want one of those podiums from SNL....

I feel sorry for her.

I do too. She's a nothing gravitas/talent/intelligencewise - a low rent trophy wife - but she may be a good person and she DEFINITELY didn't sign up for this **** storm when she agreed to marry that Day-glo doofus.

Get out now Melania, before the real fun begins.

I don't. She defended Trump's birther nonsense. Not saying she had to speak out against it, but she didn't have to speak for it either. She's no victim.

They'll just crowd people into a single group and keep the camera shots tight up on the tables.... you won't see any difference...

Or they'll fill the room with members of the Cult of Trump just to make the the place look packed.

i dont know about that

the WH leaks like a sieve these days, if that happened, everyone would know about it

but they wouldn't care.... they'll just keep on spewing the lies and ignore the evidence that proves their lies are lies

But Trump will still be there. And will know how empty it was. It doesn't matter how they try to hide it, they won't be able to hide it from those actually there.

Remember folks, we live in a post-truth society now, whatever anyone says is their truth and it's offensive to contradict them. If Trump says he's a resounding success and 500,000 people attended the WH Dinner (even though it can only seat like, 500?) then it's offensive to contradict him.
