Making Costumes?

Very nice!
Your going with brown and black colour scheme I take it?
Seems to work well.
Looking forward to pics of the whole shebang.

i just hope this black trench coat i got doesnt suck...also im jealous of your gloves...cooler than mine

hell yeah brother, that's what I'm talkin about!!
haha, badass hat dude, unfortunately mine's going to look a little tattered and uneven, but shouldn't be too bad
I'm going to dye the ribbon slightly purple, just for kicks
I got 'em from a British department store called Debenhams. But I'm fairly sure depending on your location, that you should be able to source a similar pair.
oh, cool
yeah I picked up some that look like the style he had in the GN and in the movie, but there suede
but they're comfy and brown so it's cool
haha
now I'm gonna have to start looking around for a trench coat in the thrift stores because those nice ones on ebay are NOT cheap, I really don't maek enough money at my job to be spending it on an awesome trench coat, regerdless of how awesome

must remember to investigate further

Comedian costume in the works, teaser pics coming soon!

You mean your not doing a Silk Spectre II Soul? oh well.

Looking forward to seeing some Comedian pics!

Great costumes folks... Im thinking of doing a movie version of Ozymandias. Im pricing it out right now and a few techniques to hit movie quality. I gave up on a spiderman costume as the people who run that costuming world are kind of scummy.

Ill keep you all updated.

sweet, are you gonna make it with or without domino mask?

Sometimes Etsy.com (the art world's Ebay) has vintage gloves, hats, coats -

C'mon, this is a sweet hat.
This one looks a bit too tall . . . but still a cool hat.

And I know, they aren't cheap.

But, this could help a few Rorschachs. :)

Well, I do plan on making it. Im not a huge fan of the design of it, but its just an eye mask so illl just make a quick mold of my face and sculpt ontop of that. My main priority is going to be the suit. I think Ill gather supplies and wait until some more shots from the film are shown. Im already talking to a guy who makes modified batman suits and Im seeing what I can work out.

hope this'll help

WOW! Really impressive progress on your costumes guys!

Can anyone explain to me how you're dyeing the trenchcoats? That would be an extremely valuable piece of information!

your hat and gloves are very rorschach, tortel...freakin sweet
thanks, I cut the brim off an old indiana jones hat(it stunk as an indy one, but don't worry I still got a good one)
and(believe it or not) I got the spotless gloves at wal mart
haha, not even really looking, just stumbled upon them

well the ol indiana jones hat looks great for a rorschach one!...and you found those lovely gloves at walmart? i can never find anything good at walmart...you have great luck :oldrazz:

yeah! I thought so too, can't wait to dye it
yep! found it in the men's clothes, 10 bucks, deerskin
smells like cabela's
haha

The gloves and journal are perfect. Lovely start Mr. sErIoUs. :woot:

Thanks very much.

If anybody is on the hunt for accurate material for the Rorschach hatband, I've found that plum grosgrain ribbon in 40mm is practically spot on.

Wow! that looks bloomin' impressive to say the least.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

wait are Rorschach's gloves black, brown, or purple? i thought that they were purple at first, but if you look at the crimebusters meeting scene, you can clearly tell that they are black. I always assumed that they used the purple to show light hitting the black gloves because it would be extremely difficult to show shadows on a black surface.

If your going for the comic version then it's hard to tell cause the colour palette is varied depending on lighting conditions. If you look at the first time Rorschach appears in Dan's apartment in a well lit area they appear brown or maroonish. But as you point out in other scenes and under other lighting conditions black/purple.
If your going for the movie version then they are definitely brown/maroon.

As for dying a hat. I don't know if it's possible. It depends on the fabric. Wool, wool/felt? I don't think it'll be easy. I think the way most hats are made (with a cardboard inner layer, although I don't know for sure) don't really lend themselves to the dying process. I could be wrong of course. Maybe someone here has more experience in these things.
What colour is the hat you have?
I know there are some spray dyes out there. I don't think the results will be perfect, but it might be worth a shot.
