After the new trailer how much do you think this will make? Before I didn't see it making more than $600m but after seeing the trailer and how much hype and discussion it has generated in combination with it being 3D I can see it really surprising us and breaking $800-900m.

Still too early to gauge accurately. I don't know if the trailer has had that much hype has it? I mean with the general audience?

It's gonna take until the new year to really gauge how big this film is sitting with the audience.

I'm going to assume this is worldwide so I see $500-600 million as a good range for now.

This already has more positive buzz then Spider-Man's reboot ever had. That was a polarizing film upon the announcement and it still remains so after the release. Yet it made a pretty solid $750 m ww. It seems like every site I go to the buzz is overwhelmingly positive for MoS. And it will definitely get a momentum boost from Nolan's trilogy and his name attachment. I'm thinking 800 m ww minimum. A juggernaut in waiting.

Just speaking from reaction of the internet for now. It's all over the place and has garnered a lot of discussion. The kind of discussion that films with a high ceiling of potential generate.

I'm going to say $800M worldwide is the ceiling for this pic.

If people love this trailer on The Hobbit (as well as the final product), I think the domestic earnings could score over $300M easily. That 3D and IMAX surcharges will help it get there.

My guess is 900 million to 1 billion. Cavill will boost the worldwide cred and hype, and I think that the attachment of Christopher Nolan, along with the general interest in Superman, will drive this one big. I also think (and am assuming in my estimate) it will be a great film.

It tops $500mil easily. Don't see it going over $1bil though.

I under predicted avengers even though it's success was staring me in the face.
Between the international recognition of this particular character, the names behind this film, the 3D inflation and the marketing.

WB has a the possibility of a huge hit. However like avengers and TF they may need to start selling their bigger moments over their more somber ones to a degree.

I predict $800 - 1bill.
Mainly piggy backing off of what Spiderman did.

If that Zod and Supes fight is on par with or better than that Smith vs. Neo fight in Revolutions, then I'd go as high as 700 mil.

I'll tell you something. Had Superman Returns never happened? After trailer we just saw? This might have been the biggest movie-going event in years, on par if not greater than The Avengers. Maybe I'm shooting too high but who knows.

But the truth is Superman Returns did happen and even though this trailer was a home run I'm just not sure if audiences are clamoring for another Superman movie. It will definitely do well but I don't expect it to break records of any kind. Having said that it has a solid chance to be the highest grossing film of the summer.

And if MOS goes on to be a huge hit, you can bet your ass the sequel is gonna do serious damage. Once people see the trailer and they see Superman going up against Lex Luthor and all that fun stuff it's gonna be a wrap.

All true.
I also expect the same sort of "bad taste disorder" to plague the next star wars films....

You only get that one shot to make a first impression...then you get a sequel. If only this had been the return.

Whoops picked 300 thinking domestic. WW I think it will make about 750.

Yes, I think you are. The way your talking its as if people would have went to this movie in droves just because of the character himself. But that didn't happen with Superman Returns. So if that movie never happened I don't see how this movie could've garnered this much interest in the 7 years since.
