Man watches 'Captain Marvel' 116 times to break world record

That's hardcore but I don't think I could watch any movie that many times without losing it. My record was ten with TDK and I think seven for the first Iron Man.

I think of how many other movies I could have seen in that time. I've seen many movies multiple times....but I spread them out over time. Would rather watch 116 different movies in a month that the same one 116 times.

What a waste of life, honestly. I don't think there's a single film I've ever seen more than 50 times over my 32 years of existing. Why anyone would actually watch a single film 116 times in such a short period only to break a world record is honestly, beyond me.

Some may say kudos, I think it's quite sad.

I have to believe he wanted to break the record. In my laters years I've gotten to the point where I can't watch a movie twice anymore. Too many other movies to watch than to know where every turn is in a movie.

I can't imagine watching any film that many times, more fool him frankly, WR or not, complete waste of time & resources.

Funnily enough the only movie I may have seen that many times is the one in your avatar.

When I was little I'm sure I watched Ghostbusters more times than this... but it was the 80's, TV didn't have a whole lot goin on... lol

The article doesn't say how old he is. If he's up there in age and retired then I understand. But if he isn't then I'm wondering where he finds the time for this. Unless he doesn't have a job.

It says he took long lunch breaks and time off work to watch it. His job must be chill as ****.

This is disheartening. One of the great things about cinema or TV is it's a moment of time that can be relived.

If it's a great film or peice of work that one truly admires then why not continue watching if only it be a scene or reading about it time to time with the full beginning to end re-watch maybe being every so often? For instance, I can't get enough of Twin Peaks. Each year, I find myself either reading something about it or re-watching a scene and thinking about it. Some parts are bad and some parts are great yet overall it's awesome.

If the next newest thing is always competing for one's attention I think it best to just distill the best as worth re-visiting on an annual if not semi-annual basis. How many times have people here watched their favorite Christmas movie? Time lost should be time worth re-visiting at some point when it comes to cinema or TV I feel.

That being said watching a movie 116 times in less than a 2 month period is beyond ludicrous. I usually watch a movie once, skip and pause through scenes in non-sequential order, read about it, then maybe a re-watch from beginning to end months later. This guy just really wanted the attention the record would bring him badly or maybe it's an accomplishement he really relishes on a personal level somehow... It would be great to ask him what made him pick this movie out of any other?

I think my most watched film is like Star Wars Ep IV and even then it's only at like 30 times spread out over like 25 years.

Because if he picked What Men Want it wouldn’t get nearly as much attention for him.

Maybe he just liked the movie and it has nothing to do with the "controversy" that lame incels online created.
