I also think it's strange that we're getting season 8 casting announcements already when there are still probably a few new characters who haven't been announced for the second half of season 7.

I doubt it's her. Given her quote, she asked to have a part written for her, and I think that character already has material to pull from the graphic novel. I think it's too early to announce them, so it could just be an original character or someone else from the comic.
