G.P. Taylor must be one of the most active fantasy writers for teenagers and young adults, only Rick Riordan beets him in quantity.
With Mariah Mundi (a girl's name?) we have something really interesting to look forward to.
It could be seen as a continuation of Harry Potter, as the main hero is 17 in the book, the very same age that Potter was in his last adventure. But the settings change from modern day UK to the Victorian era. And while HP revolved around magic, MM have steampunk.

I wonder how it would have been if Daniel Radcliffe was to play Mariah? It would be confusing, and feel like "the adventure continues". He may have a right look to play this character, but another actor is a must.
I can't stop thinking about Mariah being 17 and the possibilities it opens up. I mean, we won't get a little kid to play the hero. The age makes it possible to cast someone with an already familiar face.
Thomas Sangster is one of those who comes to my mind. he's a great actor. And then we have Freddie Highmore who's even younger, and has experience from this kind of films. I can't count how many he's been in without doing a list. Don't know if it's a good sign or not.
Skandar Keynes is a third suggestion. With MM, he may have a chance to get a better reputation. The Narnia fans aren't too kind to him.

I hope we will get a good director. PJ Hogan or Brad Silberling could both be up for the job. I love their earlier work in this genre.
Mariah Mundi seems to have a good cast in the adults roles, already by now. The only thing that worries me is Ioan Gruffudd. He starred in The Secret of Moonacre, and that didn't turn out too well.

The title role has been cast:

I really hate that they went with a completely unknown. Heck, even Frank Dillane would have been more interesting. He has had atleast a little exposure before.

The only ones who can save this film is now Neill, Headey and Sheen.

The title have changed from
Mariah Mundi & The Midas Box
to
The Adventurer: The Curse Of The Midas Box.

Here's different posters from before the title change. I thing they look really good, especially the second.

But why doesn't it get released at cinemas all over the world? It's a mystery to me.
Is the studio afraid of commercial disaster? Is the youth fantasy genre doomed by now? Is it a "curse"?
