Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

Thanks Green! He looks good, but...:wow:...I've never seen BSG. I'll have to check that out.

As for the news...meh, nothing surprises me.
Opinions vary about it. Mine is it's one of THE best shows on TV.

Yeah same old stuff, more rumors.
I think alot of it is peps trying to take advantage of the fan divisions to promote their own agenda.

Loeb can't, but Millar can? Nope, sorry. Reading Millar's idea & his rant, he would be terrible. Only one guy can't save Supes, you know? I'm sure there are others there that can save Supes beside Millar, even though I doubt Millar can do it with how he never wrote screenplay before. Same for directing too. Thus, he would be terrible.

Loeb?
the guy who works his magic on smallville every few weeks...that loeb?
i'm sorry he had some solid stuff with his man of all seasons and the rest of his sale stuff(and lee stuff) but his ongoing stuff is total lame and or crap

superman/batman being a good example
his taking over of millars work on ultimates being another

he's like alot of writers, they often tell solid stories...johns on flash for example or superman

but when millar is on the books they're events, they draw attention, they do something new and significant

and that was my point, singer is more one of these solid story tellers.. Millar makes things interesting.

i read about millars ideas for the superman pitch he had in mind for DC comics, with hitch

I'm not sure where ppl are getting this he's gonna turn it into wanted or something of that ilk...
it's actually maybe the truest form to the mythology out there
Millar gets it
and what's more, he get's how audiences tick.

and ultimately most important, he gets luthor...(ie red sun)

i personally think the director he's talking about is peterson..the man made a grab for superman/batman and now he needs a new project..he's proven his pull with WB in that they keep giving him loads of money and he keeps making bombs

i hope it's not him, but it might be.
(cameron is FOX, and he writes his own stuff)
it might be McG tho(he's american and he's all action)

Heh...I do enjoy some of Millars works but the guy is soo full of himself sometimes.

Yup. And your avvy rocks, green! :yay:

Just to point out that it's unfair to claim that Millar has way overhyped it- (THis time at least)-

"The net is an endless source of non-news. This was the reporting of an informal chat in a Scottish newspaper where an American director asked me to join his team. He's pitching for Superman and this is in no way authorized by WB. Don't get too excited, folks. As I said in my first comment about this, this sort of thing happens every day and could amount to nothing. Bryan Singer still has dibs on Supes and this actioneer is only preparing his offer if and when Singer isn't doing it."

Straight from the man himself at his forum.

LOL. Typical. Millar = big mouth

Do you have a link, please?

. You are like the only one I've met who doesn't think he was a good Superman.

I know two or three people who think he was not that good.

The design for Metropolis was very nice IMO. I especially loved the DP Guy Dyas designed

Agreed!

WB, please just green light this puppy already!

WORD!!

Thanks! That's cool.

:whatever: Whatever! I'm not going to go here. I've gone over this ground too many times. You like the movie. Leave it at that.

It's so hard to stay off it, isn't it? I just can't believe that others can't see the 'deadbeat' quality of Singer's Superman. But you're right- gotta stay out of it. :)

Why would you be surprised SR's (Excuse my language) was a Wank fest to as he put it his "Mentors" Masterpiece.

B/c eventhough SInger hitched his wagon to Donner, SR STILL was a crappy film. I would expect Johns to be able to see past the superficiality of this and see the ridiculous and stupid substance of the story.

Not sure if this has been posted, but someone called Archangel is posting in the comments field on the home page news for the Kurtzman/orci interview...

Asked how they knew this, Archangel answered:

Encouraging, if it's true.

I left the Superman boards for a while.....I come back.....and it's still more of the same....lol.

i think i will go by what showtime says. he prooved us mroe times that he knows what he is talking.
this is the internet. everything can post anything. but you need to show me more then 2 times if you are correct. and showtime showed us.

If he makes the movie with Welling it will make 300 million to 400 million domestically!

He is the face to the role right now like it or not...

Directed by
Michael Bay

Script by
Mark Millar

Starring
Tom Welling
Erica Durance
Michael Rosenbaum

I can live with that, and be very happy... :boba:

No way their movie will be worse then Singers Donner love fest!

:whatever:Oh yeah I can see a bunch of TV actors pulling that kind of amount in, lets all be honest here Welling's acting is well lets just say reserved for TV. I didnt like Superman Returns but I also dont want Welling as the new Supes, Smallville has used him up and Tainted him I say leave him to Smallville we can find someone else. Although I am certainly keen on a reboot.

OH NO! Michael Bay, are you serious? He is an AWFUL director. He has no feel for action. But keeps doing it. A pity.

Well, I don't really think this Millar stuff, and now these Archangel claims, are any more bullcrap or silly rumours than everything else we've heard. We've had Singer claiming a movie with high threat levels and body counts, we had Tull claiming an angry god, we've had an Indian actress claiming she is a scientist.

What Millar and Archangel are saying is really no different. I can't see how those who love Singer and SR can dismiss the Millar and Archangel stuff while hanging on to every syllable when it comes to rumours from Singer, Routh or anyone else on that side of the fence.

I felt compelled to blog about the Millar stuff and i see it's also on the front page news of the Hype. My report can be found by clicking on the link in my sig or by clicking here http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2008/07/millar-superman.html - I haven't gone off into a massive editorial comment on it all, it's just a straightforward round-up of all the latest stuff.

That looks official enough, but fans can do some pretty amazing things, so i'm skeptical it's the real deal.

I just dont want to see Miller's ideas for Superman, on the big screen or in comic form, it amuses me that the same people who thought Singer didnt get Superman think Millar does, have you guys READ his ideas for Superman? He thinks he's above humanity? No, sorry, that just NOT Superman.

i wish Geoff Johns would write a script for either Superman or The Flash he is my favorite comic book writer ever!

Loading the movie with the smallville cast may not be the smart choice (on the other hand Serenity was a great movie) however i do think Welling is capable of pulling off the role.

I don't believe any of this crap. Millar has made accusations before. Man Of Steel is being made, if you don't believe that, then check out The Man Of Steel's new MySpace page. http://www.myspace.com/supermansequel2010
If you look up at the VERY top of the MOS poster you will see " This is an unofficial myspace profile." I'm with you though, MOS will happen, and I absolutely cannot wait to see it in full production.

If Superman thought he was on par with humanity there would be no need for Clark Kent now would there? Clark is Supermans interpretation of humans imo.
