After confirming that he will be reteaming with director David O. Russell for the video game adaptation Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Wahlberg told MTV that he is eyeing Broken City as well.

"There's this other thing, 'Broken City,' that I want to do... at the end of next year with Allen Hughes directing," Wahlberg said, "[It's] on the Black List. It's one of the best unproduced screenplays..."

The film, written by Brian Tucker, centers on a cop-turned-P.I. who finds himself thrust into the seedy backroom politics of a corrupt mayoral election.
This sounds more up Wahlberg's street than Uncharted.

Russell Crowe Elected to Broken City

The cast for Allen Hughes' upcoming Broken City is coming together as Deadline reports that Russell Crowe has signed on to star opposite Mark Wahlberg.

The film, written by Brian Tucker, centers on a cop-turned-P.I. (Whalberg) who is hired by the Mayor (Crowe) to find out if his wife is having an affair. When he confirms that she is, she soon turns up dead and the P.I. is drawn into a vast political conspiracy.

:awesome:

Looks like Mark Wahlberg has taken Bruce Willis' place in Hollywood as the go to cop/P.I.

Crowe and Wahlberg, total dream team in terms of acting off each other there.

This looks real good.I'll see this movie when it comes out.

The Plot.

NYPD Detective Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) is accused of murdering Mikey Tavarez, a 16-year-old resident of the Bolton Village Housing Project, but is found innocent due to the intervention of Mayor Nicholas Hostetler (Russell Crowe) and Police Chief Colin Fairbanks, who destroy evidence of Taggart's participation in Mikey's murder.

Eight years later, Taggart, now a private detective, is having money problems, in addition to his girlfriend, actress Natalie Barrow, having an affair with another actor, Ryan Blake, and dealing with Henry Ludlow, a stalker recently released from prison.

Taggart and his assistant, Katy Bradshaw, are eventually hired by Hostetler to follow his wife, Justine Hostetler (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and discover if she's having an affair, something that could hurt Hostetler's public image in the middle of his campaign to be re-elect, in which he's competing against the young and charismatic Adam Valliant.

Taggart's investigation leads him to uncover a conspiracy involving the Bolton Village Housing Project. In addition to Hostetler and his wife, Valliant and Fairbanks, are also involved corrupt businessman Sam Lancaster and his sons, Sam Jr. and Todd; private contractor Harris Sargent; and City Council President Zachary Andrews.

The discovery inadvertly makes Taggart and his loved ones a target of people interested in covering up their crimes, and forces Taggart to attack before he is attacked.
