Peter is 16 when he gets the spider powers, right?

"Spider-Man 2" is set two years after part one. At his grave, May talks how two years have gone by after Ben's death (if I remember correctly... I'm sure that somewhere they talk about two years passing by).
They seemingly celebrate Peter's 18. birthay at the beginning of the movie.

Now the third film plays at least few months or at most a year after the second one.

Peter is talking about marriage. I just wonder... I know comics are timeless, but how old was peter when he and MJ married in the comics?? Isn't it too early in the movie?? He's 18/19... at most 20 in this sequel.
What do you think?

Yeah, then Peter gets MJ knocked up and bails out on the family. I can see it now.

He was 17 in the first and 19 in the second. Raimi or one of the crew memebers said on one the commentaries. So, most likely he'll be around 19/20 in this one.

I think he will be 20 because that seems like the raight age for peter to get engaged to mj if not marry her. although at 19 peter can still get married.

Yeah coz I was sure that kids in America leave school older than 16.

You just saved me doing a search LOTN, tar :)

I always took it as if he was 18 in the first one, 20 in the second one, and 23 in the third one. But if Raimi confirmed that he was 17, then he's probably right (being that he is the director). Do these movies take place right after each other or is Spiderman 2 set two years after the first movie and Spiderman 3 is set three years after Spiderman 2 (and five years after Spiderman 1)?

It may seem like he's too young but Peter has known MJ since childhood. High school sweethearts get married all the time in real life. And besides i don't think they will tie the knot in this movie.

Yeah, it´s not unusual for someone to get married with the high school sweetheart - I wish I had one, my high school (or the Brazillian equivalent) was hell...

Wait, I thought he was already 18 when the first one ended because he graduated from high school.

I figured by Spider-Man 3 he is in his early twenties, but I could be wrong.

Well, in the 1st flick he was a senior in HS so that puts him at roughly 17/18. Then 2 years later is the 2nd movie. Then 3 years later is the 3rd. So he's in his early 20s...in the movie at least.

no way... he was 19 in spider-man 2? he looked way older.

Peter was about...20-21 in Spider-man 2.

Cuz he graduated from high school...and then after that Spider man came on the scene properly. and it's 2 years after.

The 3rd movie takes place less than a year after the 2nd.

So hes like 20 or 21

You're all wrong on this...Peter is 18 in Spider-Man...that is probably around March or April, because in May, which is usually when students graduate, Peter, MJ and Harry graduate...then move on to late October-early November(where it is Thanksgiving in the movie), and that sums up Spider-Man...two years later in Spider-Man 2, Peter is now going on his 20th birthday...so in Spider-Man 3, Peter is 20 seeing how S-M 3 is still in his 20th year...so it's not 20 at the most, he IS 20 years-old.

Edit: In the comics, yes, Peter Parker is 16 when he gets his powers (and also in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics), but to make the movies more mature-esqu, Sam Raimi had to make Pete be 18 and make him graduate...just to make things flow more better within the movies.

You can get engaged at any age, you do know that right?

Does this mean we'll see Pete and MJ on MTV's "Engaged and Underage?" lol

i am 21, graduating from college, and i am getting married this summer to my high school sweetheart of 6 years, its not that unrealistic

Just because Peter is going to propose to MJ in this one, does not mean they'll get married right away.

They might have a long engagement.

^^true^^

and we dont know if he ever actually proposes to her given the events with harry, he bought a ring and all, but we dont know that he gets down on one knee...

I say they get married in the fourth movie .

In S-M 2 Harry gets drunk on champagne from a bartender so we have to assume he is 21 years old. Therefore we can assume Peter and MJ are roughly the same age in that film. (Unless, of course, Harry was held back a year or two in school since he "flunked out of every private school" his father ever sent him to.)

In Spider-Man, Peter is a senior in HS (making him probably 18). Then, however, we see him during his freshman year of college with Harry (perhaps another year older, depending on when Peter's B-Day is).

In S-M2, I got the feeling that he's now about 21 or 22. He's got his own apartment, he's got 2 jobs, etc, etc.

Then, depending on how much time has passed between SM2 or 3, I would believe that Peter is in his early-mid 20s, thus making him age appropriate for marriage (though I strongly doubt that they will get married in this film).

Age appropriate for marriage??

People can get marrid legally as young as 18. In the comics, Pete and MJ got married and they're still eternally in their mid to late 20s. In these movies, they can get married at any time, regardless of how old we think they are.

When you think about it:

Spider-man: Peter is Graduating High School. The movies time frame is about a year (Beginning of Senior year until just after Thanksgiving of Freshmen year of College). Peter is already 17-19.

Spider-man 2: Peter is Two years older. He is 19-21.
Spider-man 3: Peter is anywhere from a month to a year older so he is 19-22 depending on how old Peter was as a Senior in Highschool.

Bottom Line, in my mind, Peter is 21 and old enough to be thinking about marraige. How do I know this? In Spider-man 2 He was at MJ's party where Harry was drunk (they wouldn't show underage drinking) and he offered to get MJ her drink. They were 21 in that movie, so would be 21-22 in this film as well.
