Married? How long did you date before getting married?

Met my wife on AOL. We chatted for a few months. Met face-to-face, were engaged within a month, and married about two months after that. This year will be anniversary number 8.

My parents dated about that long before getting married. To me, there's really no other way. I kind of grew up believing such a long courtship was almost "mandatory" before marrying.

I recently found a ton of old friends from middle school on Facebook, and saw that damned near every one of them are married and/or had a kid (or has one on the way). Almost every one of them dated for one year, if not less, before marrying. I just couldn't do that.

That said, I'm also the guy who dated a girl for two years and wouldn't even discuss the thought, so maybe I've got commitment problems.
