Does anyone know of any Marvel animated movies being released for the rest of this year. Far as I know the last one was Planet Hulk, which was good. I know that currently the contract Marvel has with Lions Gates is for 8 films 7 of which have already been released with the last coming out in 2011 before Disney takes over the distribution. Im guessing the next one is Thor Tales of Asgard, but Marvel needs to step it up in animated movies if they want to match what DC comics is doing with there stories. Movies like the DC comics, Green Lantern First Flight,Public Enemies and Crisis on Two Earths, and now the superb movie - Batman Under the Red Hood has been released(Awsome movie), I would really like for Marvel to start adapting more well known stories and putting them into animated films like they did with Planet Hulk.

Is Marvel just waiting for the Disney take over in 2011? Really the past year all there has been is Planet Hulk, and Hulk Vs. I was hoping to see a World War Hulk to follow up this. Some other stories I would like to see -

X-MEN - The X-Cutioner's Song
Marvel - Civil War
X-MEN - Fatal Attractions
Marvel - Secret War
Avengers - Kree-Skrull War
Spiderman - Kraven's Last Hunt

Other stories would love to see -
A X-MEN vs Avengers story
A Wolverine original story
A Spiderman original story - to name a few, maybe we need to start a poll or throw some ideas at the Marvel execs to get there attention. Anyone else have some Marvel stories they would love to see get animated, or Marvel animated movie news?

I hope they would make more Hulk vs. stuff. It has been clearly the best of Marvel Animated movies.

Hulk vs. Alpha Flight for example.

I do remember on the Hulk VS dvd special features I think that they had that panel of writers and voice actors for the Hulk VS movie and one of the writers mentioned that he would like to see the VS movie series ongoing and that the next one he would love to do is Avengers vs X-MEN movie. So it is possible, but I haven't heard anything since then about this or any other animated movies being released. I guess maybe they are waiting for the whole Disney partnership goes through. Marvel needs to put out something, cause DC animation movies have been great the last few years, and they release atleast two or three movies a year now.

I think Marvel was waiting on their deal with Lions Gates to be be over. With Lions Gates' recent corporate problems and Marvel getting The Punisher back I would hope they release Thor Tales of Asgard via Disney.

Now what I would love to see Marvel put out

An Ultimate Spider-Man connected DTV
The rumored Ultimate Avengers/Ultimate X-Men dvd
X-Men's Age Of Apocalypse
Young Avengers
an animated film devoted to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I want them to do what DC is doing and put out movies based on Story lines in the comics. We could see a bunch of great stuff

Death of Gwen Stacy
Messiah Complex
Moon Knight
Daredevil based on Bendis's run
Guardian Devil

and a bunch I'm not remembering at the moment.

Marvel is really sucking in this department as far as I am concerned, they need to get it together. DC puts out like 4 good DTV's a year, and Marvel barely puts out 1 mediocre one.

There are lots of great Marvel stories out there begging to be made into a great animated movie.

That would be smart. The DTVs we've gotten so far have been pretty much mediocre or worse. They could benefit from having some of Disney's people in there.

Im hoping that all it is that Marvel is waiting for the Lions Gate deal to be over, cause DC is destroying them with there animated feature's right now. Now that Marvel has Disney, it should be the other way around, but we will see. DC does great in these movies cause of the comic story adaptions they choose to do and the serious tone of there movies. I always felt like Marvel has better characters and more to choose from but DC has better storytelling anda more adult/serious tone. Spiderman the death of Gwen Stacy would be a great movie, or maybe Spiderman - Maximum Carnage, definately they should do Marvel - Civil War. Also I wish they would have these movies longer than 1hr10mins, make them atleast 1hr45mins or 2hrs so the stories don't feel rushed and tell the complete story.

Yeah, Marvel has always kinda sucked animation wise compared to what DC has done - series wise and film wise. In my opinion, the only really entertaining thing Marvel has done was the Hulk vs. Wolverine segment from Hulk Vs.

Their new TV series they have planned still seem like garbage, but maybe, hopefully they have got their **** together with animated films.

I want the Midnight Massacre storyline.

For those who don't remember or know about it:

It involved Blade wanting to get rid of all supernatural beings by taking hold of a page of the Darkhold. With it, he became a Supernatural killer who absorbed the powers of those he killed. He single handedly bested and murdered:

Demogoblin
Werewolf by Night
Johnny Blaze
The Night stalkers
Morbius
Ghost Rider (although this lead to his death)
Modred the Mystic
and others

He was finally taken down by the Darkhold Redeemers, with help from Dr. Strange. It was a giant supernatural cluster*****, but it could be a great way to showcase many of Marvel's under-appreciated darker characters.

As far as I'm concerned, Spectacular Spider-Man was absolutely on par with DC's animated output.

Spectacular Spider-man was he saving grace of Marvel animation. But they just had to kill it.

marvel sold their likeness rights to some of the characters. so in order to make a big crossover animated movie they would need back the ff,spiderman,x-men,silver surfer franchises. you see how they had to replace the SS with beta ray bill in hulk vs. they still have the same problems they have with the movie franchises. other companies own the likeness to their characters. so don't expect to see the civil war or annihaltion or infinity guantlet unless sony and fox are tied into the project as well. hope this all gets sorted out and marvel tries to get their stuff back so we can see some epic stories.

Actually Marvel owns the TV rights to all of it's characters after Sony gave them Spider-Man, so he can be in any animated Marvel title. And the people you listed appear in Super Hero Squad already so Marvel could Annihilation, Civil War, Infinity Gauntlet and other major events. They just can't do live action versions yet.

It was made by Sony. Somehow when Disney bought Marvel they got the TV rights for Spidey back from Sony, thus the show had to be canceled (sadly). :csad:

yea they have to wait so they can use all their characters. or else they will have to sub out like they had to do with the SS and beta ray bill. dc owns their characters and really only have the jla that they do stuff with. marvel has lots of stories with avengers, x-men alone. not to mention the crossover stuff between the two. not sure if they can do them since other companies own the likeness rights to some characters. im just wondering how they were able to do hulk vs wolverine and not able to put the silver surfer in planet hulk.only good dc ones i seen is GL, the batman under the red hood was kinda good, but the big reveal was really weak and too obvious. i liked seeing thor vs and loki was voiced really well and i liked the character design, i guess it was just seeing thor and asgard and loki and everything, i enjoyed it. i do think that they made beta ray bill and stormbreaker seem stronger when he fought the hulk. seemed like thor and mjolnir were not strong enough, imo. the wolverine story was really bad art and just dumb.
seem like both companies want to make epic stories for adults, but just seem to pull back and make it kid friendly. kids will watch these anyway so might as well go full boar and make them true to the comic.

marvel is lacking because they don't own all the rights to their characters like dc does. you see how in planet hulk they replaced silver surfer with beta ray bill. it was due to litigation. so im not sure how movie rights and animation work out. i guess its all likeness rights or something. i don't really know. but that is the reason they havent been doing huge crossover story arc movies. also now that they are with disney im hoping the animation will step up a notch. im glad 2d animation is still being made.

The next animated DTV movie is Thor Tales of Asgard it will be released early next year. Its the last one of the 8 movie Lionsgate/Marvel deal. Not sure if Marvel is going to make more after that. Sounds like they could if they wanted to make another deal with Lionsgate.

Well damn! That sounds like an awesome story that I need to check out.

Yet they were able to use Wolverine for Super Hero Squad. Legalities are weird.
