Marvel's Chairman, Morton Handel, commented, "We are pleased with the financial results for 2005 and the strong cash flows generated by our operations. Several watershed events in 2005 have set the stage for the next phase of Marvel's growth. We announced a slate of feature films to be produced by Marvel using non-recourse, third-party debt financing. We are actively working on scripts for Captain America, Ant-Man and Nick Fury and expect that one of these could be our first film in production next year with a release in 2008. In addition, the rights for Hulk and Iron Man reverted back to Marvel, which will enable the Company to secure a significantly higher portion of the economic benefit than under the previous licenses signed several years ago. In global licensing, we completed a video game extension agreement with Activision for our Spider-Man and X-Men properties and announced a multi-player online persistent universe game with Microsoft, both leaders in their respective industry segments. Lastly, early in 2006 we entered into a five-year toy license with Hasbro in the action figure and role play toy categories, which should extend the global reach of the Marvel brand."

Dude Sava,

It's great news. No 3rd party can hold this up. Give Marvel a bit more time. They just got rights back but this is by far their #1 priority in their personal slate...and then Iron Man. This will be on fast track and release date will be annouced within months. This is means Hulk 2 can't be dragged around no more by BS!

lets hope so :(

I'm still skeptical about this, if we hear news within the next few months i will jump for joy, but i'm not that hopeful.

i nearly *** my pants everytime i see hulk news on the front page

its such a rare thing i cant help but get excited

Why are we so excited? Didn't we already know this? It was reported a few weeks ago that Marvel would be getting the Hulk rights back with Universal distributing just like Paramount.

No we did already know this. Harry Knowles said Avi told him Marvel would produce it and Universal would distribute it but Marvel never confirmed this nor was it clear if Marvel actually got full control of the rights back. This is great news and very important for The Hulk franchise. I e-mailed SHH with this news WAY before they knew about it and they put it on their site an hour later and give me no credit. :(

Advanced Dark, we don't give credit for a press release we receive from Marvel. We get many e-mails about things, but if we receive an official announcement at the same time, we use that.

Also, we added this to the item on main;

Marvel Studios' Avi Arad added in the Earnings Conference Call that Universal will still distribute The Hulk sequel, but Marvel will make the movie, unlike the first film, which was made and distributed by Universal. Arad says that Marvel is in "very aggresive in development on Hulk [2]."

what the hell does that mean?

I not trying to be mean but I'll believe it when they start filming. Also why make a sequel to a movie that has become a joke? It's destin to bomb at the boxoffice.

just to piss you off

It means the movie is not going into production any time soon.
thanks... now someone who's not an idiot should answer

Very aggresive development means they are trying to get this out ASAP, but, isnt this basically the same bull**** news they have told us for the past three years?

thats what i was thinking, wasnt this in "aggresive Development" at universal?

I dont know about aggressive at Universal, but they always said it was in development, cant remember the exact words each time, but that may have been what they said Sava. I'm giving this until August, if we dont hear anything up to then, i think we can say goodbye Hulk 2.

same here ... after this year and we still havent heard anything different, i dont see the point in making a sequel in 2 years

I just think that if we dont at least hear anything this year, there is a strong possibility they will go another direction.

God I hope Marvel doesn't go with a man in the suit idea!!! :(

Hulk is now Marvel's biggest and most lucrative franchise under their own Studios division. It has become their #1 priority. Hulk made so much money on the merchandising front it generated more sales than Spiderman did. The video games are also very popular and everything can feed off of one another. You can be sure Marvel has clearly known this was happening for a few weeks and has already set up Universal as the distributor. Not only that but Avi Arad said that there were no plans to change the cast when he called Harry Knowles about this. Though with this news Hulk 2 filming is probably still about 2 years away. That's not time at all really and we have plenty of comic book films to keep us busy for the next few years.

I can wait another two years for the sequel, but we need regular updates to keep the fans optimistic AD. Some little tidbit once every 4 months would do nicely and then a big announcement 2 times a year. Your a Hulk fan yourself you know we've been through a lot over the past three years, lots of **** as well, so they need to keep us in the loop.

i dont doubt its their biggest franchise, just that. Why make a sequel to a film that came out in 2003 5 or 6 years later ?... i mean, its not like Hulk was loved by everyone like Alien or T1. I doubt Hulk 2 is gonna get a bigger budget either. Why not wait till 2010 and start all over again?..

Sava, Zorro was another movie that had a sequel 6 years after the original, and not everyone loved the original.
