Marvel should start exploring some horror properties. These films could be produced for very modest budgets: $5 - 15 million. They can hire unknowns or known folks whose careers have cooled down in recent years; character actors, that sort of thing.

Some original concepts can be developed, but standing properties would include Man-Thing, Zombie, Werewolf, Satana, etc.

They may put Man-Thing in one of their TV shows and tie Ellen Brandt from IM3 into it.

Didn't Ellen die?

Also, Ted Sallis could be a SHIELD scientist before he becomes Man Thing

I meant pre-Extremis. She gets those injuries from Man-Thing after all.

Indeed.

It would be nice if Marvel launched its own dark universe offshoot of the MCU....and also beating DC to adapting the 'dark' properties.

Would Blade count as horror? I want more Blade...

I still think Marvel should do a Midnight Sons movie with Doctor Strange, Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, Daimon Hellstrom, Ghost Rider, Morbius (if they have the rights), Werewolf By Night and Jennifer Kale.

Doctor Strange. That could do for horror what the first 2 Alien movies did in the 70s and early 80s. This film if done right could be a game changer.

And of course Blade.

That could be good. :yay:

As for Ghost Rider, maybe he could just appear in something with others (like Hulk did in Avengers)?

Eh, Dr Strange really isn't usually a *horror* title. Its trippy, almost pulpish fantasy, with a heavy dose of 70s LSD styling.

Ghost Rider, Blade and Morbius would be superb horror titles for Marvel to explore, GR especially needs a good movie to show people the potential of the character. In the comics he is one of, if not THE most powerful super-hero in the MU.

^I'm not sure, I know he was in a deleted scene in Blade 1, and Marvel now have the rights back to Blade. But I also remember some talk that Nomak in Blade 2 was meant to be Morbius, but they couldnt use him as he was with the Spidey rights.

I cant see a Spiderman movie ever using him though so it seems pointless if they do have the rights to Morbius.

Hulk should be one of their horror properties.

But no, let's keep him a kid-friendly heroic cliche.

Hulk would be great to see as a horror movie. That was one of the things I liked about Ang's movie, it had some horror tropes like Bruce as the boogey-man in Betty's dream. But as you say, it'll never happen.

Ghost Rider or Blade would be the best characters to launch Marvel horror though.
