Marvel Now - Part 3

Walt Simonson replacing Yu on Indestructible Hulk.

I was looking for a couple books to drop and this is now officially a dropped book for me. I like Waid and Hulk's decent but I was mostly enjoying the title for the art. Without Yu, I'm not as interested, and I can't stand Simonson's art so that COMPLETELY turns me off of the series.

Thanks Marvel for helping me making a difficult decision

Simonson is awesome. A Waid/Simonson collaboration is damn historic in my book.

I know he's a legend but I just don't enjoy his art, but if you like him you can take over my buying of the Hulk comic and help those numbers stay consistent :p

Is that a good Holy poop or a bad Holy poop?

well, I appreciate what Simonson's done, his history, the new elements he brought to comic art at the time

However, as a modern Comic artist, he does seem a bit out of place
He has a very old school style, as opposed to the either realistic or hyper-stylized looks of modern artists
And the way inks and colors are done now don't seem to really jibe with his art, it's a little jarring

again, he's a master, but the same way Kirby and Ditko would be out of place nowadays, so is Simonson

all IMO, of course

Although, to now completely contradict what I just said, that Hulk drawing does look pretty awesome and badass
who knows, maybe he's adapting, and taking on a more stylized look to his art

I thought Simonson was an awful fit for the run he did on Avengers. Maybe it was the Bendis talking heads writing style, but his art was just jarring.

Eh, I don't dislike Simonson by any means but I prefer Yu. The writing on this book is amazing though, so bring him on

As always, I question JH's logic. :o

I sort of understand how people who are more accustomed to modern artists may not see the appeal to someone more "classical", I guess, like Simonson. Definitely a different era and time.

I mean, you know, they're wrong and everything, but I'm seeing their flawed perception.

Simonson's not as good as he used to be, but I'll still take him over Yu any day.

Simonson is no different than he was years ago. I think it looks odd seeing his art with new age coloring and on glossy paper as compared to back in the day when he was doing Thor and X-Factor. Whatever, it's a classy feel and for an old school fan like myself I welcome it. It's retro baby.

Maybe it's the different coloring and stuff. But when I look at his original Thor run and compare it to something he's done recently, I much prefer his old stuff. I don't see him doing a whole lot of new stuff, though.

What all has he done in the past few years?

Just to say, from what I see, people are loving Bendis and his X Men :woot:

I remember his X-Factor. I still have some of those. I feel like they still look good. Something about his Avengers run, though... I thought it was horrible. Huge action scenes looked fine, but any scene with characters just talking made me want to close the book.

So Aaron has another book? ****. Right when I thought I was done adding Marvel books to my pull list...

Thanos origin story that was cancelled last year, perhaps
