Marvel Reveals Infinity Gauntlet From Thor

Well one thing is evident looking at the comic designs vs Movie designs for the gauntlet: Thors version is very much an Asgardian creation (apart from it being armored it as some nordic looking elements to the design along the back of the wrist section.

This still doesn't rule out Thanos coming along later to steal the thing (this would just bypass the back story he went through to get it). Though who made the thing, who it was made for (given it's size), and why Odin (presumably) has it vaulted away somewhere is anyone's' guess.

wow, I like how marvel is starting to pull out the cosmic stuff.

Personally, I wanna hear the words 'quantum bands' at some point in a Marvel movie.

I didn't see it, it's gone and now I hate everything!!!
So many days of hoping and waiting and now nothing :(

After seeing this I REALLY hope Marvel has the rights to Thanos, i'm not sure if they will do or if Thanos will be owned by Fox since they have Galactus and SS.

I'm sure somewhere down the line Thanos might appear in an Avengers.
The Gauntlet is actually THREE FEET tall! What we understand is Odin has these hiding places for powerful items he's collected to keep peace in the universe. Captain America's footage had Red skull digging through a place here on earth and finding what we think is the Cosmic cube in a tomb of Odin's. There's going to be alot of surprises they say. The Green Glowing box Loki Approaches I would not doubt is the Casket of Ancient Winters from Walt's run.

Lets hope we do get to see Thanos at some point, have Thor and Thanos ever crossed paths in the comics? From what I know of Thor, which admittedly isnt much, he doesnt seem powerful enough to take Thanos on.

Yes they have met, Infinity Gauntlet I think was one story arc not sure of the other.
Thing is I want to know if this "Infinity SWORD" is supposed to be Surtur's Twilight Sword and somehow they're working the Gauntlet into Surtur before Thanos gets it.

I dont think so...the idea of the Infinity Sword is from the Superhero Squad show

Have they fought?

Have they fought?
I don't remember if they did or not to be honest, I remember one panel where they're feet from each other at one point, facing each other.
(lost most of my Comic collection in a flood in the mid 80's including a GIANT run on Thor. :( )

In this interviews Branagh says that "Odin runs the Universe". So maybe they have a different version of Odin where he acts as some sort of guardian of the Universe, like the God from the Bible. That explain the Infinity Spear and Gauntlet.
Interesting. Hadn't heard that before. I know they're setting Odin up to collect various objects throughout the universe and lock them away for safety's sake, hence the Red Skull raiding some kind of vault or tomb Odin created on Earth for the Cosmic Cube. "Running the universe" is a bit different from that, though.

Having Odin act as a 'collector' of very dangerous weaponry is not a bad way of having to avoid decades of separate story-lines (some concerning characters Marvel Studios do not have any control over, like the Silver Surfer).
How the gauntlet would be explained on film though, I don't know... The comic book version involved the 'soul' gems being a part of the force that created the universe and were stolen by Thanos from several established cosmic beings (Inbetweener, Champion, Gardener, Collector, Grand Master , Runner). They would have to simplify that if they do intend to ever use it (huge WTF? from the GA if they don't).

A whole Infinity Gauntlet movie is the only way I could think of getting any of the backstory into the movies. There are 6 gems, so it's very much an "in for a penny, in for a pound" situation. Can't just show Thanos (or whoever) collecting just one or two of the gems.

I smell a prequel after they do Avengers; though it is still possible Thanos could be the villain for Avengers.

Just finished doing an interview with the creator of the Infinity Gauntlet prop (and other, yet to be revealed, cosmic movie props).

If any of you guys have questions let me know before I do the follow up this weekend.

How much liberty was he/she allowed with the original comic designs? Clearly, the Infinity Gauntlet preserves the overall look of the comic version while ramping up the minute details. Was that like the defining directive on the props? "Like the comics, but MORE"?

For me, this is the holy grail of Marvel artifacts-- and I'm pleased with the design. The Norse designs remind me of Star Wars.

I'm wondering if there are lights beneath the stones built into the glove? I feel this would work much better than CGI blooms.
