Ultimate Comics Previews at CBR.

At some point in the day we should also get:

X-Men at CBR
General at Newsarama
Avengers/Heroic Age at IGN
Hulk at Marvel.com

The Ultimate previews are so few I'm surprised they bothered releasing them as a separate set.

Indeed. Also very digging that Punisher is US Agent/Captain America 2.0 :) But whos the guy on the background of UA2 #5 Cover? Ghost Rider?

Huh, seems like they're stiffing us on previews this month, and we'll get everything else tomorrow. Quite a change from past months, when they "previewed" almost everything. Maybe because of C2E2?

There's only 4 books. I assumed at least 7 or 8

EDIT: Oh, July previews. For some reason I was thinking these were for next month and we'd see a flood of biblical proportions of Iron Man titles and appearance

For the record, I found IRON MAN: LEGACY interesting because so far it seems like it is doing the exact same opening arc as Matt Fraction wrote in INVINCIBLE IRON MAN, only with Fred Van Lente's sense of style and pace. And the result is actually superior. I'd argue anyone who ditched IIM because it usually was paced slowly should at least give Legacy an arc. C'mon, has Van Lente ever written something that was total rubbish? Because if so, I haven't seen it.

I'd love to see more things like that; the same arc, only better. Imagine if Marvel relaunched New Avengers, only they gave it to another writer and said, "This time it'll actually be GOOD, instead of simply IMPORTANT". I'd sure buy that sucker.

Full Solicitations.

My pulls:

1. Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 - finally. Nice cover.

2. Secret Avengers #3 - "Shadow Empire"? Is that like the Secret Empire but with upgrades?

3. Black Widow #4 - still really vague on plot.

4. Captain America #608 - fantastic covers, and I'm really interested to see where this story is going: I considered the resurrection of Zemo I (or 12th, I guess), but I think Brubaker said he thought that wasn't necessary in one of the interviews for this arc.

5. Daredevil #508 - Daredevil and Bullseye actually haven't come face to face in several years now, so that should be good; I'd also love to see what he thinks of Lady Bullseye.

6. Fantastic Four #581 - Wow, Hickman really is pulling in stuff from all over the Four mythos.

7. Heroic Age: Prince of Power #3 - excellent cover from Pagulayan and bringing in these other pantheons should be cool.

8. Steve Rogers: Super-Soldier #1

9. Thor and the Warriors Four #4 - fun series, though I'll be interested to see how Zalben handles what seems like a rather dark story conclusion.

10. Thor #612 - wait, Gillen's back already?

11. Uncanny X-Men #526 - looks like Emma pulls through, which is good; but the whole Namor/Shaw thing looks primed to explode in her face, which is bad.

12. X-Men: Second Coming #2 - Finch's covers have been pretty good, a nice finale for him at Marvel for now, and I wasn't even a big fan of his work.

13. Wolverine: Weapon X #15 - Aaron is terrific at making use of all Logan's connections.

14. New Mutants #15 - I'll probably stick with this series post-SC.

15. X-Factor #207 - still not sure whether I'm really interested enough in the cast to continue with this.

There are a few "maybes" here and there, too.

Hm, this is the third straight month that Guardians and Nova have been absent from the solicitations. I guess either both series are on a short hiatus as the event happens, or I'm calling relaunch. Seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.

Nice to know Avengers Academy will be $2.99 after the first issue.

Ugh, get Moon Knight away from me

AVENGERS: THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE is pretty much the thing I'm looking forward to the most. Here's hoping Patriot or somebody else with a short temper F's Wanda up when they find her :o

Looks like this upcoming encounter will be very 'conclusive'.

I want Pagulayan to draw Thor more often. That Prince of Power cover looks awesome.

Lots of good stuff to look forward to. More Pet Avengers is always good, especially if Franklin Richards' mini-Lockjaw "Puppy" is going to be involved. The whole thing looks too devastatingly cute. :D

I may actually pick up that Hulked Out Heroes: Thor vs. Spider-Man two-parter since Gillen is writing it. Gillen can pretty much do no wrong with Thor, as far as I'm concerned. Speaking of which...

Odd that Gillen's back on Thor. Not that I'm complaining. The solicitation makes it sound like maybe Thor and the Asgardians are beset by the Disir, whom Gillen just introduced in Siege: Loki, in the aftermath of Siege. Given that Asgard fell on a lot of people, gods included, I'm sure that field in Oklahoma looks like quite the buffet to the Disir. I really can't stress enough how much I love that addition to Marvel's Norse pantheon--a genuine bogeyman for gods = awesome.

The Thanos Imperative looks like it's gonna be great. That cover gets me all kinds of excited. Finally, the cosmic heavy-hitters are all reunited to take on the Lovecraftverse. So excited for that story.

There's some other interesting stuff in there too but I'm bored of typing now.

Well, looks like I have to find and buy the first 2 volumes of Tomb of Dracula now that they are preparing to release the other stories in their own volume. No more essentials for me!

Crap, I need a job. Or someone who will trade art for books... or art for money. Hah, like that will ever happen.

:csad:

He actually introduced them in New Mutants #11, which he guest-wrote; Valkyrie-Dani fought them.

Blurgh, I figured I should've probably read that tie-in. But I don't particularly like the New Mutants and I always thought it was lame that Dani became a Valkyrie.

The Miracleman stuff is all mine.

I'm very excited and slightly disappointed by Tomb of Dracula Omnibus vol. 3, as it doesn't collect EVERYTHING else. It's missing Giant Size Spiderman #1, the two X-Men issues with Dracula in it, and Bizarre Adventures #33 (with some ass-kicking artwork by Steve Bisette). Also, one wonders if they'll be publishing the original pages of nudity from the B&W Tomb of Dracula as opposed to the censored versions they published in TOD Essentials 3 and 4.

I also may check out the colorized version of Dracula by Roy Thomas and Dick Giordano. Maybe color will help Giordano's sub-par artwork be a bit more bearable, especially towards the second half of the book.

And why the hell is Straczynski's Thor run getting getting omnibus treatment but Walter Simonson's run hasn't gotten it yet? I've not read Straczynski's run yet, though i hear good things, but Simonson's run is hard to find in TPB and with his run being pretty damn definitive, along with the movie coming out soon, you'd expect Marvel to ****e out the character a bit more.

I think I'll only be picking up Secret Avengers. All the 3.99 books hurt me, a lot. All the indie books I buy are at that price point, it was nice when MARVEL saved me a buck.

As much as I've likedi t(more then the main book actually) I'm glad Merc with a Mouth is ending cause it saves me money.I would pick up Corps but I can't stomach the Liefied art.

Goddamnit, Marvel. I enjoy Amazing Spider-Man, but $12 a month now? ****************** that.

I also dig ASM, but with all the other side stuff they add to it, like minis, annuals, one shots, Web of content, and now the new Peter Parker series. I have no clue what the reading order is.
