Homecoming Marvel & Sony's Spider-Man (2017) General Discussion - - Part 18

Yeah...Goblins are getting to be like Superman's Lex Luthor. However, i think for the 1st two films of a trilogy, the Goblin should be hinted at, as already in existence, while Spidey deal with those films main villains. The big mystery throughout those films, would be what Goblin (Green or Hob). Both Norman and Roderick should have brief suspicious appearances, and brief name drop references. As well, name drop Jason & Ned, just for added mystery & intrigue. Play it out, to its inevitable appearance in the climactic final battle, in the "third film" of the trilogy. Of course, there will be another villain in the mist, that would take us up to that final battle, in the third film.

Hobgoblin shouldn't show his face until Green Goblin is firmly established. That's one thing the 90's cartoon ballsed up. Having Hobgoblin come before Green Goblin.

Yeah, I agree totally...I'm simply talking about creating a little mystery, as to who it is that is actually out there, without, it being so clear & predictable. But, yes...I totally agree with you on that.

I don't think Marvel should go that route. Green Goblin should be a mystery to Spider-Man and the people of New York, but not to the audience. People know too much about Green Goblin now that it would feel unnecessary to play the mystery card. TSSM succeeded, but I doubt fans would fall for it again and the GA will probably go "So it was him, like last time? Why even bother trying to hide that for us?".

Anyone else think Hulk will be in this? I don't see where else in Phase 3 he will turn up (besides IW) and I'm pretty sure Feige said he would be in multiple Phase 3 films (unless he was counting it as both IW movies).

Plus it would help to keep Spidey fresh by crossing him over with a popular Marvel character.

Kevin said that before this deal though. I don't see Hulk fitting in a Spider-Man film to be honest.

Well, because imho, the writing need to create some wonder & mystery, engagement with the audience period(in some respect, much like "The Usual Suspects)to follow along, and try to figure out what's going on behind the scenes and subplots for future reference, as they follow Spidey interaction with supporting cast & villains and current situation at hand.

Just a way to be less predictable, and more clever, slick, and thrilling. Everything don't have to be neat, convenient, and simple....imo.

peter shootin the sugar with banner would be a cool scene

I'm excited for all these interactions he'll be having with MCU characters

I think they should use at least one other superhero though - I think it would help to keep the Spider-man franchise fresh.

You can do a lot to make a franchise fresh, you can give Spidey a tutu, that's fresh and different, but is it good?

Spider-Man's battles should feel solo, but I'd be happy with Peter seeing tony or Bruce for science advice, if Steve rogers isn't dead by 2017, I could see Peter going to him for a pep talk, I could see him going to hawkeye to discuss whether hawkeye will ever be relevant in the MCU.

If he teams up itd have to be with another street character, like Daredevil

I don't really care though, marvel will do fine, it's a Kevin Feige produced spiderman film, a fanboys dream

Hulk in a Spider-Man film would be great. They have some history together. Well, frankly Spidey pretty much has history with everyone in the Marvel Universe.

So now that spidey is at Marvel the villains should come from a much bigger scale.

-Mysterio - should be from Asgard and he could be the one who taught Loki illusions.

-Kraven - should be a hunter who kills Black Panther's dad,and finds the herb that gave him his powers.

-Doc Ock - a guy who uses the tentacles to handle an experiment with an Infinity Gem,but the gem causes an explosion that fuses the tentacles to Ock's body.

-Sandman - the guy Doc Ock was experimenting on with the Infinity Gem.

-Venom - Guardians of the Galaxy, when the collector's building blows up,a container containing the symbiote gets free and attaches underneath Star Lord's boot.
When they are flying the ship one day,the symbiote attacks everyone in the ship. The ship's controls are damaged, and The Guadians of the Galaxy crash land on Earth.

-Scorpion - A guy who uses Stark technology and stolen Vibranium to create a suit.

-Rhino - A guy takes Hulk's blood and mixes it with Rhino DNA and becomes the Rhino.

-Vulture - A guy from Falcon's crew who got shot down, enemy examines the wreckage and updates the suit.

I get what you're saying. I don't completely disagree with you. I think a way of playing with that kind of mystery is to not have the audience guess who Green Goblin is, but rather why he's doing what he's doing. His work in the dark should be a mystery. You should sense that he has a plan, but you wouldn't be sure what exactly that plan is. I mention my idea shortly in my idea for Spider-Man (2017) in my signature. I'd love for you to share your thoughts on that, but it's a pretty long text so I wouldn't blame you for not reading it :P

If we had the FF it'd be easy, just use Johnny.

Probably be Iron Man tho Cap would be my first pick.

The First Amazing Spider-Man has really grown on me over the years and its became one of my favourite Spiderman movies it's because of people complaining it was copying The Nolan Batman movies the 2nd one had to change the tone which made it get a rotten score even if I liked the 2nd movie it was still a poor effort If Sony kept the same tone as the first movie we wouldn't be getting a reboot

If Sony kept the same tone, the next film still would've failed, thus another reboot.

Fury or Hawkeye maybe. Johnny would have been great. And if they had X-Men Iceman too. :woot:

I personally don't want to see Spidey anywhere near SHIELD/Fury. Leave that for the cartoon.

Well if Spider-Man is going to be in Avengers: Infinity War then he is probably going to have to interact with Nick Fury at least once.

So Kevin Feige talked about Spidey in the MCU...

don't fool yourselves, Spidey is gonna interact with everybody
Sony: So when Spider-Man is in the Avengers: Infinity War movies, he must be the main character. And no one else can talk to him. They are not worthy of it. They may only speak when spoken to.

Marvel: Um...

Sony: And Spider-Man should wear a Sony cap while fighting crime. And give Nick Fury a Sony Vaio computer while you're at it.

Marvel: How about we give you 10 billion dollars to shut up and give us the full rights to Spider-Man?

Sony: No deal! We would rather we keep the film rights and make less money.

Marvel: Okay. So we'll put the Sony cap on Spider-Man and not allow Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, or any other characters interact with him unless he gives them permission first. Got it.
