So, any more interesting news today?

Or are we still stuck in the O'brien/Spectacular spiderman rumour black hole?

Has spider knight fought back in my absence?

I compare Miles to Peter Parker who has Aunt May, Uncle Ben, Harry Osborn, Flash Thompson, Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, and so on. Miles Morales has Genke.

I'm not sure on the Knight, but O'Brien told people at Buzzfeed that he's not playing the character which made everyone immediately think he was, but a lot of what he said seemed rather genuine.

Now, as some have brought up, this could be a pretty good lie to hide that he is in fact playing Peter/Spidey, but I'm believing that he's not -- at least for right now.

In other news (still related on O'Brien), the Reddit user posted how he may've been told wrong info about O'Brien, which I find it very funny.

Um.. heres the Reddit dude's latest comments..
No, I'm saying that people are believing what Dylan said without hesitation. You really expect me to believe that you haven't been at the slightest, reached out to, when you're one of the top choices to play Spidey one month away from the shooting of Civil War? If that were true, then it would mean the casting for Spidey really hasn't begun yet. But how would that make sense? When you cast an actor for a role like Spider-Man, you have to go through a long list of people, like REALLY long, then you gotta narrow it down to who you really want auditioning for you, then you gotta call those people in and day by day, sit through dozens upon dozens upon dozens upon dozens upon dozens of auditions, then you gotta narrow it down to who performed the best, then out of those actors, you gotta bring 'em back for re-auditions, when that's done, you gotta make your decision, when you make your decision, you gotta do some contract negotiations, when you figure that out, you gotta fit the actor in the suit, give him the script to read and help him become accustomed to the environment and the crew around him, and then start filming. Now doesn't that sound like a hell of a long process? It would take a lot longer than a month, hell, you even gotta find a director to give his input on who he wants playing Spidey. After all, why do you think we hear about casting choices 2 years to 2 and a half years prior to the film's release? It'd be a mess to put yourself through that while filming a movie that Spider-Man is supposed to be in.

Do you mind me asking what do you think makes a good Peter? I'm just curious. A lot of people said that Garfield's Peter was a *****e bag and I don't think that he was (I got to rewatch the movies), but I do see some out of character moments from him.

What I want in Peter is someone who starts as an underdog, eventually gains confidence with his powers, but still has to balance that "typical Parker luck" while being a superhero.

The thing about Peter is that when he's Spider-Man, he's someone else altogether. The charm, quips, and confidence are at an all-time high. It's as if he's able to vent every grain of pain that he deals with as Peter Parker, and be an entirely different person unleashing that energy. In terms of those characteristics, there is no doubt that Andrew Garfield can pull them off. But the distinction people don't recognize is that the charms, confidence, etc. aren't the only things that define Spider-Man. He's defined by Peter Parker, and that's where Garfield failed.

Peter is the guy who bites his tongue over and over again against Flash Thompson, the one who watches other guys go out with his love interests (Leeds and Brant) because he has a responsibility to protect, the guy who gets yelled at by his boss every day, holds nobody higher than his aunt and uncle, and so on. Honestly, I couldn't even imagine Garfield's Peter being in any of those situations. I would actually expect him to not contain his emotions and start a fight with a bully, respond to his boss/elders, etc. Also, if you really think about it, there was very little that was illustrated to show Garfield's Peter's behavior was even warranted. I would even argue that he had it better than most teenagers do, especially the Peter from the comics. In fact, there seemed to be issues in his own character that motivated his personality more than anything else, rather than his behavior being a byproduct of circumstances around him.

Just a scene or two of being a good guy doesn't serve the character justice. There should be no doubt that Peter is the guy that puts everyone ahead of himself, the one who MJ calls a square (if I recall correctly, even Mrs. Watson, despite Peter being Spidey, repeatedly tells May that Peter needs to socialize more), and the guy who, no matter the situation (even jeopardizing battles), makes it home to make sure his aunt is okay. Peter is defined as being ordinary, but has to maintain extroardinary. Yes, he can make mistakes, but there shouldn't be inconsistencies that make even the most loyal of his fans raise their eyebrows and not recognize him.

I could careless who plays Spiderman. What I want is an actor who can do the following

1. He has an innocent look to him
2. He's scatterbrained
3. He's the wittiest person in the room while in the suit
4. He knows when to be serious when the moment ask for it
5. He's resourceful and quick thinking in the most dire of situations

Another thing I'd like for the movie to do is tell his story more through his perspective. Spiderman 2 and 1 did this fairly well, which is one of the reasons they are highly regarded, and not like the ASM2, which tried to make everyone into the main character in a way.

I think all of those aspects go hand in hand with the director as well, someone who can bring out all those aspects from an actor.

Glad that Reddit thing is over, at least for the time being .
I didn't buy what that guy said for one minute.

Actors lie like that all the time though. It will really never be over until Marvel/Sony announce something.

I agree with this.

That's why dylan couldn't be ruled out yet despite his statement

Lol imagine if on the set of Teen Wolf, some random journalist goes 'so hey, these Spidey rumors huh, what do you think of them'

And then O'Brien just goes 'oh yeah, well yeah they're true I'm totally playing Spider-man, going to be pretty cool'

In no way would that ever ever happen.

I you read the other stuff he's said, that statement makes more sense. He said his source has gone one thing wrong before - three years ago. Everything else that guy has posted has been legit. I don't see why an actor denying something suddenly means so much - it happens all the time.

We will know the truth sooner or later, probably sooner - and I think Redditleaker will be vindicated when that happens. Everything he has said, when seen in context, seems plausible.

Including Marvel spreading false rumors to misdirect, and and the denial, which doesn't mean anything. Denials happen all the time, right up until the official announcement is made. Only then does the tune change. I'm surprised some haven't figured this out yet.

I'm waiting until tomorrow before I start pointing fingers.

I'm definitely feeling like this is the case.
I mean, the guy has been super legit up to this point. No way would he dupe us all on something thhis big. Dylan.... dude, you're seriously trying to tell me, no one has approached you about this role? Especially with you being the clear fan favorite?? Nah, not feelin' it.
Though, it does make sense why he's doing this. No way would he just go out and say "Huh...? Oh yeah, dude. I'm, like, definitely Spider-Man." I'm sure he's just holding out so either Marvel or Sony can make the official announcement.
