This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]510705[/split]
Exactly. She's not talking about anything other than her role, and the movies she did. I don't know how anyone can misread that as her having a dig at the whole genre.
She's talking about TASM2 version of Aunt May I think. She's clearly talking about Aunt May as a character, not just the TASM version.

She's talking about TASM2 version of Aunt May I think.
No, she's clearly not. She makes no reference to any other version of the character except her own.
I know it's probably disheartening for you to hear her slam the movies you love, but reality is harsh sometimes.
Dude, read the quote again...
I've read it several times. The facts have not changed.
And what facts are those? Do you mean your interpretation of the quote?
And what facts are those? Do you mean your interpretation of the quote?
When asked how much thought she put into the role of Aunt May, she answered, "Not a great deal." She elaborated, saying: "Because it's really hard to find a three dimensional character in it, and you work it as much as you can, but you can't put ten pounds of **** in a five pound bag."
Stern then theorized on why that is, saying that Field was playing a supporting character to the film's superhero lead -- a mask-wearing lead that's "all CGI, special effects." Of Field's role, Stern said, "You come in and you prop up Spider-Man once in awhile. It's like playing the wife at home." Field agreed with this assessment, saying "Exactly."
There is only one interpretation, the factual one. She talks solely about the movies she did, and the character she played. Nothing else.
Any other interpretation is deluded fanboy denial.
There is an audio clip on that link, listen to what she's saying, she's clearly referring to her role in the TASM movies and how they didn't give her anything to work with.
I took her comments as the genre itself is not her kind of film. Mostly due to these quotes.
It sounds to me like she didn't have much interest in the role from the very beginning, and only took on the role because a dying friend wanted her for the part. Nothing more nothing less.
Don't see how anyone is taking her words as digs towards the ASM franchise.
So I guess my interpretation of the quote is just straight up wrong?

Listen to the interview. To me it clearly sounds like she's talking about the original character, and the genre as a whole.
Yes.
I've listened to it. Twice. She doesn't mention comic book movies as a whole, or reference any version of Aunt May other than the specific role she played, and the material she was given to work with.
Unless she's so stupid that she thinks all CBM roles have as little material as what she was given, she is strictly talking about her role and the Spider-Man movies she did.
2+2=4.
Thank you.![]()
It really feels like no one liked making these movies.
Like at all.
Whatever.
It really feels like no one liked making these movies.
Like at all.
Can you blame them though.
No, I said unless she was so stupid to think all CBM roles have the same lacking material as she was given, and I don't believe a veteran actress like Sally Field thinks that, she is talking strictly about her character and not the whole genre.
I know you're not stupid enough to think all CBM roles have the same amount of material to them that Field's Aunt May had. Are you?
She's clearly talking about her role as Aunt May...
Seems to me like people who weren't fans of TASM franchise are just taking the opportunity to slam it some more.
