Marvel Films Marvel Studios' Armor Wars (aka A War Machine Story)

We more or less got Titanium Man mixed with Crimson Dynamo in Iron Man 2. That said, I would be shocked if there wasn't an armored nemesis in AW

Heck, I'd love for it to be reverted to a streaming series simply just to be done with the back and forth.

Sure, but we don't know if Marvel Studios still has dozen of projects lined up for Disney+. Once they finally slowed down which they said many times last year, maybe they could demote it to a series but I also don't think a Rhodey series is important. We haven't seen him in a major role since Civil War or Iron Man 3? He had small roles in other movies and shows but none of the stories revolved around him.

They are probably better off doing a Squirrel Girl series than a War Machine series because Squirrel Girl would at least feel fresh.

Secret Invasion. Even if it's technically not him, it's a major role for Cheadle and heavily advances ideas about what is going with both Rhodes' position and his character in ways that obviously ought to be continued/resolved.

Now - whether anyone wants to reference Secret Invasion ever again is another question entirely.

Also, his Endgame role was just as big as his CW role.

Rhodey was a side/guest character in the show from my recollection. They really haven't done a lot with the character outside of the 3 Iron Man films.

He really wasn't a side character in SI. And again, his Endgame role was also significant.

Endgame had like 50 characters and he wasn't a stand out in that movie. If you think his role was significant, then I could name about 30 characters who stood out more in that movie.

Secret Invasion, aside from the awful revelation which should be retconned/forgotten, I can't remember a single thing he did in the series.

Rhodey is simply not a very good character for someone who have been in the MCU since the first movie.

Endgame had more than 50 characters, but it didn't have anywhere near 30 characters with significant roles. Rhodey, however, was one of them.

They are probably still trying to figure out if Rhodes was a skrull during Avengers Endgame or not. :o

The best thing now is to surrender Secret Invasion to the multi verse as a what if tale and pretend it never happened in the main universe. There aren't even any Skrulls in the films or any hunting of them or anyone suspected of being one.

By the time, Secret Wars comes out in 2027, there would have been 13 to 15 live action Mcu shows released for Disney+. Secret Invasion is quite easy to ignore, unless you would go rewatch all those shows before seeing Secret Wars and take every scene in consideration.

I do think this show needs to be canned. I think moving forward, they should limit their annual releases to two movies + 1 live-action show per year.

Miniseries. I hate how Kevin didn't understand people want their MCU shows to be actual shows with multiple seasons and story arcs.

I think its just impossible for them to do that, as their focus is on the movies. I don't think they would venture into making shows/miniseries if it wasn't for Disney+ anyway. Kevin Feige couldn't care less about what was happening on the Marvel shows for ABC, Hulu, Freeform and Netflix and they were completely fine with it, as their movies were thriving and breaking records. The moment, they ventured into making shows, the quality of the movies dipped. Eternals and Ant-Man landed in rotten territory. The others landed in the 60s and below 70s - which was more often compare to phase 3/2/1.

Iirc, Feige said the shows/miniseries would look on par (visually) compare to the MCU movies, and that backfired because it is gonna require double or triple the budget of a mcu film to achieve that across all episodes. She Hulk/Secret Invasion didn't look they had a budget of $200 million. I also think upgrading Armor Wars into a movie also something had to do with the budgeting. Why spend $200 million into a War Machine mini series, when it could be a 2 hour film released in movie theaters first, that would make more profit, and of course it was upgraded into a movie before Mcu's first flop movie. Its just a series of many setbacks.

I think it was more of a mandate from Disney. They wanted these shows for the newly launched Disney Plus.

Which they overdid it. Imagine if we had 12 mcu movies from 2008 to 2010. The people would have been burnt out so quickly.

I still don't know why they thought releasing 4 movies, 4 live action shows + 1 cartoon in 2021 alone, was a good idea. I'm still haunted by the terrible visual effects of Hawkeye.

That's because Bob Chapek thought it was a good idea. Wonder why he isn't working there anymore.

I think Kevin Feige could have said no though. Any studio would struggle with that much output in a single year. The fact they were filming so many projects, in the middle of the pandemic was just insane.

In hindsight, it could have been worse if it was under Sony, Warner Bros and the old Fox. But they really should have saved half of the shows for 2022. I also didn't like how Monica's stint on WandaVision and the Ms. Marvel didn't boost the interest for The Marvels. Like where are the people that watched those shows? Must be waiting for The Marvels to hit Disney+.
