Marvel Films Marvel Studios' Armor Wars (aka A War Machine Story)

I don't think even Riri has been confirmed. So far it's just Rhodey.

Giving the "Iron Lad" moniker to a non-comic character that most people have forgotten about by now. Now? When they're actually building up Kang and his variants?

 

Now this is a film, I hope it means a higher chance Jeff Bridges will return. Of the entire Ironman trilogy, I liked his role the second best, only after ironman himself. The actor has a great presence. Though rumors have it that the son would be in the series instead, which would be a bummer.

I would prefer the D+ series are for characters that need a little more exposure!! Meaning that a lot of public really doesn’t know about!! But also maybe they can also help “expose” some x men characters!! These series should flesh out the characters IMO

 

Nice! Now we have our War Machine movie. I'm glad that Armor Wars is getting the big screen treatment now.

 

I think this a great idea. Make it much more impactful since it’s deal with the Legacy of Tony’s technology falling into the wrong hands and the major ramifications that will ensure.

 

I'm not crazy about having this as a film. To me, that screams that they couldn't write a decent story that could happen over 6 episodes/~6 hours, and that maybe the budget would be too much and a 2 hour film would be cheaper. Color me disappointed.

 

But why do we need 6 hours of war machine?? He’s been in several movies!! Again think D+ should help flesh out newer or not popular characters!! Would help flesh them out for movie appearances

 

A storyline that could possibly deal with Obediah Stane's son, the return of Justin Hammer, Crimson Dynamo, other countries/people/aliens using Iron Man tech, and the carry over from Secret Invasion plus maybe more...all in 2-3 hours? I would much prefer something that takes its time and fleshes out all those elements if that is where this was going. If it's not, then I can only hope it's good.

I wouldn't care to see White Vision in Armor Wars anyway. I want to see the likes of Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Stilt Man, Stingray, the Raiders and particularly Firepower.

But does that mean Rhodey is going to go rogue like Tony did in the comics? And is he going to come in conflict with the new Captain America? MCU Rhodey seems far more by the book as a character.

 

More like a story that they couldn't scretch for siX hours.

Lol. Every Disney+ MCU series could be trimmed down to a 2 hr movie and they would be better.

Btw, all Disney+ MCU shows are less than siX hours, especially the ones with 6 episodes.

 

I'd like to see Beetle as well. Hopefully the MCU can introduce some characters that'll work for a Thunderbolts sequel because the team we got for the first one seems so underwhelming.
Also Detroit Steel because it has become the Hammer Industries armor in the last decade or so (and it has a chainsaw arm lol).
I also wonder if Iron Man 3's careless use of Iron Man villain names will affect anything. Jack Taggart (Firepower)'s name was given to a random extremis soldier who blew up. Let's hope those characters are forgettable enough that Marvel won't mind double dipping on the names (like how there are two Bolivar Trasks in the X-Men movies).

I think the only part of comics Armor Wars we can really expect is "Iron Man tech gets into the hands of various parties and individuals that shouldn't have access to it and need to be stopped". For any plot beyond that I expect them to just write whatever fits best with the current state of Rhodey and the rest of the MCU.

 

I hope Rhodes' suit up sequence in Armor Wars (he still hasn't had a proper suit up sequence in any of his appearances throughout the MCU so far) doesn't involve nanotech. Something more akin to Tony's Mark 46 suit up from Civil War.

 

Hopefully they would feature an Iron Man villain that wasn't so random from the comiX. Whiplash, Firebrand, those were choices.

 

I'm guessing a 200 million dollar budget. Hopefully the writing is up to par.
A food focus on his paralysis. That can't be ignored.

 

I just hope the film is more about War Machine being his own person than simply being Stark's/Iron Man's legacy which I got a feeling it'll be marketed to the public as.

 

I've been excited for this ever since it was announced a few years back so I'm glad to see some movement on it. Cool to see its been upgraded to a film.

 

I hope it gets a title change. Armor Wars sound like some random action film rather than a Marvel movie.

Something like War Machine or Iron Man: Armor Wars. Like I wouldn't be surprised if Rhodey ends up taking the Iron Man title just like Sam with Captain America. Like it would make more sense why Rhodey out of all characters is suddenly getting a solo film. Hawkeye didn't even get that privilege.

 

How risky is this move? Is there a large enough audience to see a solo War Machine role or will Marvel fill it with tons of Iron Man references/villains/other Marvel regulars to balance its chances to be a HIT?

 

Calling it Iron Man: Armor Wars would make a difference.

I imagine the posters would be just Rhodey inside the War Machine suit, similar to the Iron Man posters.

Imo, it is as risky as Captain America: New World Order. Because I doubt most people eXpected a supporting Iron man/Captain America would headline their own film. But the title would make a difference, rather a movie titled as Falcon or War Machine.
