One of the reviews said it had the usual coming-of-age teenage tropes.......which was expected. It would have been disappointing otherwise. I just hope that Kamala's brother is more "I love you sis, but I am like mom and dad and I worry about you a lot, especially now that you are a superhero" rather than the "I am older than you so I am better than you at everything!" trope that is prominent in teen shows and movies if the protagonist has an older sibling.

In the comics, there was a bit of.... religious rightousness to the bolded aspect of their relationship.

I hope we don't see that in the show. I hope it's more like the parents, he loves his sister but is concerned for her well being after finding out she's a superhero or concerned for her grades after being lazy in school (another trope). I would like for once to have a teenage protagonist who has a sibling that isn't annoying as hell (younger) or "I am better than you at everything!" (older). I have seen that too many times. Him being more like the parents in regards to his relationship with Kamala (loving but concerned) would be a nice change of pace from those other two teenage tropes of siblings.

Hmm......I wasn't in the demo, but "Never Have I Ever" wasn't a bad show. The tropes were there, but they got creative with some of them. Instead of the protagonist having one best friend, she has two. And she really didn't have a rival in season one. She did for season two, but her rival wasn't blond nor a cheerleader and it was more of a one sided rivalry so to speak.

I think I'm starting to come around to the new power set. I still don't love it, and I don't think it looks great visually, but the last few trailers have given us a bit of a better look at them, and they're growing on me. It does seem like they're trying to keep at least some of the spirit behind the original powers, though I do think they're losing out on the thematic meaning behind them.

Everything else has always looked great, though. Even if it is a cliche coming-of-age story, it's still something new and unique for the MCU, and Vellani seems to be killing it.

    (1) Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (reddit.com)

A good collection of early reviews for the first two episodes of Ms. Marvel.
Overall reviews are great. This quote about Muslim representation is interesting.

I like that Disney dont avoid a conflict here on the other hand and make a clear statement.

If that's how that religion is portrayed in Ms. Marvel, it's different than how the religion is usually portrayed in other Hollywood movies and TV shows, which is usually "Muslims are bad, Muslims are terrible so therefore we will portray Islam in a bad light." Having Islam being portrayed as milquetoast in Ms. Marvel is a different change of pace from the usual "Islam is bad" that we see so many times in Hollywood. That could be a good thing.

Those posters look rather busy with their clothes almost blending into the background.

It's only a minute long but the parents don't strike me as "overly concerned" just "partially concerned" which is a little bit different than in other teen projects, which are parents who are overly concerned LOL.

Nothing wrong with that. It could be a refreshing change.

Turning Red was a delightful movie. Besides, more Asian representation in American animated movies is always needed.
