Marvel Studios' X-Men: The Roster

I think I'd prefer Armor as the POV/ride-along character, but I'd be fine if it ends up being Jubilee or Kitty.

- Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Morph, Beast, and Armor as the new recruit. I'd even throw Bishop in there as a wildcard to start off the 'dark future' stuff early; although maybe that's too close to multiverse-shenanigans so soon after that saga just ended.

I'm assuming there will be a Wolverine or two in there somewhere--maybe Jackman will stick around as an older mentor-figure like in Evolution. And if he's sticking around, then I would imagine Laura/X-23 isn't far behind.

I'm in the camp of definitely wanting a new Wolverine actor, but if Hugh has to stay then I agree X-Men: Evolution is the right way to go about it, have him be the oldest, most tenured member.

On the flipside though you could do the same thing with a new actor who's 5-10 years younger. You could also just choose a new actor all together and do a "regular" Wolverine progression, but that seems like the furthest from possible atm.

Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, and Gambit with Colossus and Shadowcat as the younger and new recruits.

that sounds like a huge roster for a first film :beaming:
A 10-members team is something more appropiate for a sequel or third film if Marvel decides to take a slower progression.

I couldn't help myself. :tearsofjoy: Maybe save Colossus and Shadowcat for the sequel.

i like the idea of a small group of team members who go out and find others, i am not sure i want the entire school right off the bat. maybe a few living there in the early stages

What about Rachael Summers as a member of the team? Would allow for the Days Of Future Past timeline to be in play without redoing the previous film adaptation (because Rachel wasn't in it).

I like the idea of having a time traveler on the team, but I’d prefer it be Bishop.

I have no interest in seeing Rachel or any of the X-Men's kids especially this early in the MCU.

Hypothetically, what if we start with the X-Men already having a long history where stories such as the Dark Phoenix Saga have already happened. Jean could be dead, or be retired. Hugh Jackman could still be playing our Wolverine. Kelsey Grammer could still be playing our Beast.

So with that scenario, Rachel for me ticks a lot of boxes for the dramatic soap opera world of the X-Men and the kind of storytelling fans love about the IP.

Telepathic/Telekinetic powerset, which is always good to have on an X-Men team
****ed up origin story
Connection to legacy characters we already know
Hasn't been done in the FOX movies already

Even without Jean, there's a lot of other characters they can use. I would use Psylocke (obviously), Emma, Legion, Proteus, Polaris, Dr. Cecilia Reyes of General Mutant Hospital Anatomy, if we are aiming for soap opera superhero flair.

It’s a bit morbid starting off with killing a major character don’t you think? Jean is a great character, we don’t need to go straight to fridging

I think if Marvel Studios makes a Marvel Studios' X-Men with the Ot cast, I'd eXpect it to be the original X-Men trilogy cast set in another reality. So we'd see the entire gang with maybe some new additions like Channing Tatum, as he would fit in with that cast. Olivia Munn too as Psylocke would fit in like a glove moreso than the X-Men Apocalypse cast.

Maybe it’s one of the unannounced films remaining in the Multiverse Saga (I’d die) but I doubt we actually get a full-fledged OT cast movie. But that’d be wild.

Jean’s gotta be there. For me, it’s Cyclops, Storm, Jean, and Beast—the rest, I can be convinced.

And, I guess, Hugh Jackman’s gotta be there now too.

It would be pointless if they are rebooting the X-Men with a new cast eventually.

But box office wise, it would sell well probably more so than their 2025 line up.

no worry about the fact that there are too many characters. some can have a solo or a disney show, especially those arent developped enough in movies

How Marvel Studios handle the X-Men should be very different to how they handled Avengers. A lot of the X-Men cannot sustain a solo trilogy let alone a solo film that would perform great at the box office.

An Emma frost movie would slap though
Only if we live in a world where the X-Men is the biggest ip, and releasing a bunch of solo films (high budgeted, written well) in a matter of months would translate to massive box office numbers.

Before Emma, I would consider giving Jean, Cyclops, Rogue, Psylocke, Gambit, Iceman, Colossus, Shadowcat, their solo movies. And the idealistic of me is thinking they cost more than $100 movie per movie and they are must see movies like every Spider-Man movie, but even I struggle to think what story would I want to see in those solo films.

I think realistically, like, we love certain characters but unless you have a good pitch how do you do a spin off other than “I like them very much”

Like Emma you can have the hellfire club as the big bad, succession type vibes.

Psylocke, matsumoto and shadow king shogun stuff.

Rogue and gambit would be fun in a Bonnie and Clyde film

Captain Britain, downtown abbey meets Alice in wonderland with Brian Braddock as the big bad.

Would have to have a really good pitch for the others

Popularity of the characters comes first when it comes to these movies. Some of the b-tier and obscure X-Men characters are more interesting, than Beast and Angel. But some of those characters haven't appeared in a X-Men film yet in a major, supporting or cameo role.
