The problem with the post-2000 characters from the comics, is the comics don't really build them up to the point they could be as popular as the most popular well known X-Men and that they influence stories that would be adapted outside of the comics.
The breakouts from the comics from the last decades are:
-X-23 - a creation of X-Men Evolution which the comics later brought in.
-Emma - introduced way back in the 80s as a villain before she became popular as a X-Woman
-Magik - with the New Mutants squad for a long time since the 90s or late 80s, before she joined the main X-Men.
We don't know if the post-Krakoa characters are going to be relevant two years from now or the next comics relaunch. There are plenty of "younger" X-Men that was introduced post-2000, that are still (at best) a b-tier like Hope Summers. Some like Elixir, Hellion, Surge, Dust and Blindfold haven't even officially joined the X-Men yet. So its hard to invest to new characters from the comics. Unless Marvel Studios somehow adapt characters like Oya and Quentin as part of the main X-Men, then those two would permanently have a place in the comics and not just disappear after a few years with the main X-Men.
But I don't think Marvel Studios would use someone obscure for X-Men. The team is going to consist of X-Men we have already seen in the cartoons, movies videogames and toys.
@CyclopsSummers recently posted something from DanielRpk about having Iceman and Angel in the team.
@CyclopsSummers can you post here the entire line up that came from DanielRpk?
If its X-Men 97 + Iceman and Angel, there's probably no room for the others til X-Men 2.
